Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Where the flexing as I drove perhaps a little bit too hard in the really twisty bits and ripped the floor loose from the rest of the cab due to rust along the pinchweldment :
This was the same day/time I broke a rear shock mount . Frame all stripped and ready for bead blasting :

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Yes ;
I have tried oven cleaners but this is the 250 I'm not planning to take apart just yet plus , truth be told , I'm a geezer who likes the ' zen ' of diligently working out there with my drill motor throwing old paint chips in my face (yes , I use a full headgear typ face shield) , the dogs laying watching me and occasionally interrupting to _demand_ belly rubs etc...

Re: I Was Told......
Oven cleaner is great to degrease everything. I get it at the $.99 Store. I then go over the left over paint with a wire wheel.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Swapped the 750 Holly for a 600 AFB (please keep the "I told you so's" to a minimum), received a pair of unmolested, big valve double hump heads (yes, yes, the 305 heads are gonna go), replaced the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, re-timed the ignition, charged up the battery, and drove it to work.
Now, I just need to finish the suspension, and get it riding and sitting how I want, as well as figure out where the glitch is in my dash lights. For some reason I can only upload one photo at a time... So here are the goodies in my trunk.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
More cleaning electric drill motor and SAFETY FACE SHIELD :
You'll notice I stopped here to show the rusty old surface underneath the paint ~ I like it to be clean and shiny so the new paint adheres well . The left side of the block is almost ready for paint : Pulled the oil pan to check for sludge , this is the whistle clean oil intake screen , due to routine BLISTERING HOT oil and filter changes :

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Nice clean engine in side so I cleaned the gasket surface HOSPITAL CLEAN :
See ? clean as can be everywhere : Even the sump had NO SLUDGE in spite of this old engine burning oil like crazy and fouling spark plugs in 150 ~ 200 miles :

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
This engine was rebuilt some time ago and the methods use by the Rebuilder to ensure no oils leaks was to GLUE EVERYTHING TO - GETHER leaving giant ugly mooshes of sealer dribbling out everywhere , inside and out , here are my tools ~ Ether (starting fluid in Foo-Foo cans) to soften up the rubber glue and old rock hard cork gaskets , metal scraper to begin then two different size wire brushes to clean it all good enough to eat off of and to better control leaks upon re assembly :
Sometimes I use Aerosol gasket remover to begin degrading old paint , I'll try the oven cleaner next . When using rotary tools it is CRITICAL to use the $15 face shield ! . I got metal chips in my right eye decades ago the _one_ time I was " too busy " to go get it and my right eye will never be good again , learn from my stupidity , not your own horrible pain and misery spending the entire weekend awake in the Hospital please.... . I hope to get back to it to - morrow and will attempt to show the usual damaged oil pan bolt holes and how to fix them , sorry about the blurry photos , some are , some are not , it must be me . OBTW : the face shield gets filthy dirty but it's easy to clean , : use running cold water and your CLEAN FINGERS to gently work the grime lose and float it off with out scratching and ruining it , then shake dry and blot off the water drops with wadded toilet paper . Wiping it with rags , destroys it instantly no matter how soft and clean you think your rags are . SAFETY KNOWS NO SEASON ! .
