Sorry to hear about your loss Don. Tell your girl that Kim and I are thinking about you guys.

At least we got a break from the sweltering heat. Hope you guys also got the recent showers and 20ş drop in temp.

Hope to talk with you soon...

Thanks Guyz!!! She's doing as good as can be expected, between my days off and her kids, we are keeping her focused on the present. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

yesterday was spent relaxing and avoiding the oppressive heat by hanging in the pool with the lovely wife and JoJo...

Today I braved the heat and put in some time on the truck... Thankfully a fan moving air helped keep things bearable...

I started out putting the hood, bonnet for my UK mates, on sawhorses to get it ready for primer… I started by removing the latch, T/S buckets, and the wiring…
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

I cleaned up the latch bolts and bucket screws then bagged it all up for re-installation once the hood is ready…

After…

I then rolled the truck back in and installed the glove box and heater box…

I took a couple of pics, sitting on a bucket to get an idea of the view behind the wheel...

Here's one through the windshield following a quick cleaning…

I then began the attempt at painting the existing SunVisors… They are covered with a vinyl or plastic netting...

After 2 coats of paint…on one side that is...

Will try another coat tonight and check them in the morning…

Laterz all...

Feelin' ya on the heat, our "feels like" temp yesterday was 113 and today is forecast to be between 110-115… No truck time yesterday, but pool time was a must...

Hi Don, I'm just about to start prepping my bonnet (sorry hood) for paint, what are you using for stands? I had thought of a couple of saw horses with a couple of planks across the top but curious what you are doing. BTW the inside of the cab looks killer, great colour combo

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

First off, I gotta thank Grizz (Rian) for the parcel that arrived earlier…
IMG_4591 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Today started off with getting some friends to drop by and help me put the stepper bed on the stand the cab vacated… all in prepping to get after the little bit of body work needed on the tail light mods…
IMG_4631 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
IMG_4634 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

I then removed the hood struts and cleaned up the underside of the hood, painted the struts and sprayed undercoating on the hood underside…
IMG_4636 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
IMG_4637 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
IMG_4638 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Struts laid in place…
IMG_4640 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Later in the day I masked off the windshield and firewall to respray the cowl area, then I started sanding on the bed… After sanding on one side, I sprayed a bit of primer on some bare metal spots as well as a few areas that need more attention…

IMG_4641 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr
IMG_4642 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Still got to add some body filler around my tail light mods and lots more sanding…

till next time guys...

Agreed....!!

Great progress Don.

I cannot wait for the day I get to spray the underseal on the underside of my hood.

Pleasure re. The UK "Redneck flag" The Cross of St George bears a lot of value here in the UK, glad I could find you one.

Found you another neat "England" flag yesterday at Bootfair, still in its packaging. Then you should have a full set for the garage.

It's the one to the right with the Lion in the pic. Not bad for 20p or 30 cents ehhh?
