Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Lets see, where do I begin to give you 2 a hard time??? Hmmmm

1. The oval years were "53"-57 - they switched to the oval window from the split window in mid '53.

2. If one fuel filter isn't keeping all the crud out, add 2 or 3 more. I run 3 filters on my '57 (last year for the oval window, lol) VW bug. When I ran one I would get trash in the idle jets. No problem since I installed some friends for the other filter to play with. What kind of carb is it? You should learn to rebuild it or take it over to Mike's place.

Just giving you a hard time on the oval years and making a suggestion on the filter situation.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

maibe its an idea to jerryrig an extra electric fuelpump and (big ass oil)filter to suck fuel from an extra pickup on the bottom of the tank and back to the tank it might catch most of the dirt before it gets in the line to the carburator and cleans the tank over a shorter time

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

had a great weekend , got to meet another great board member Keith (lolife99) he is the one on the right, me on the left , he helped me finish a task i have been putting off for a year ..(vent window rebuild) THANK YOU VERY MUCH !! and started fiberglassing my speaker box , built kick panels to hide my wiring and ac/lines .. and i am sure someone will ask why there are holes in the back of my box...LOL, CLEARANCE...gonna plate the back with a piece of metal, there is not alot of room in these trucks for speakers !!

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

I'm assuming by clearance, you mean for the depth of the speaks in the box itself? Can you plate the back of the box with metal considering the back of the speakers are a big magnet? How close does the magnet come to sticking out?

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

yes i will plate the back with a piece of steel, and then on the inside of that piece of steel i will put a piece of dynomat , so if the magnet touches it , it wont vibrate. The magnets are very close to the back i will have to see when i am done with the fiberglass and body work, that should actually set the speakers out a little more .

Speaker box looks great!
(that dude standing next to you looks old,... Ha.)
It was great meeting you and seeing your truck.

I made a 10 hour round trip down to see Mike yesterday, and pick up a set of his Slosh Tubz for my Project Ginger.
(I will be posting updates with pics,... in my thread.)

For all that haven't seen these Tubz,... they are "top of the line" in quality and fit.
Plus they "fill a void", for people like myself, who can't fabricate their own wheel tubs on these extremely low Dropmember equipped trucks.

Glad to see you were able to get a little truck work completed while Keith was down your way.

Is the chrome on the vent windows original or did you have them re-plated?
