Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Wiring, lots of driving around to get extra connectors, wire etc. Pulled the back harness and found the gas tank sender wire is too short, so I called it a night. Also noticed master cylinder number two is weeping a little, I am going to continue pumping it and hope it seals up when I get it running and some heat to the unit. I am not going to replace it until I get this on the road.

I pulled off the front bumper, and had started getting the front clip off.
Pulled of the speaker grill to have it beaded and primed

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Installed a NO LIMIT cowl vent panel replacement without the louvers. It is crazy cool for those of us who aren't going to use the vents anyway. I discovered the product while reading this forum and there was a question about whether wipers would work or not. They work very well all you have to do is locate and drill the holes. Everything else is there. It took a little tuning on the fiberglass around the short side edges to match my body lines and I had to drill the front mounting holes + plus the wiper arm holes. Installed and removed about 6 times to get it properly fit, about 3 hours and it's slick for those of you considering the mod. Now for paint.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I finally did SOMETHING on my truck today!

Been wanting to use her as a weekend driver and since Daylight Savings Time stated today I figured it was a good day to begin. I'd already pulled the cross panel in front of the radiator & latch assembly. I could see the grill & apron below were very dirty and had lots of surface rust. Pulled the whole front off:

The grill is in good overall condition:

Backside has "light" surface rust considering its never been off there for 58 years!

I'm debating using either naval jelly OR Ospho on this backside. I COULD use my El Cheapo Craftsman siphon sandblaster if I stay back so as not to warp it. Opinions?

for what it will cost you in time and materials, plus getting it media blasted and painted you can buy a new chrome one. Just be sure to paint the back side with a sealer coat, as it will rust eventually too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-1956-55...f0f9a4&vxp=mtr

There is a 57 napco{I think. memory blurs} with a sheet metal bed floor that is painted to look like rivited aluminum panels including nose art.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Finished headlight and engine wiring except for turnsignals (need to dig out the turnsignal grille). Got all the dash done except for a couple of minor things. On to the back, but need to fab a bumper infill piece first.
