Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

I recently took my bed off to do the flip and notch. I used a 4x4 and two 2x4s with a hoist and it went very smoothly. THe only place I scratched was the face of the bed floor behind the tailgate because it touched the hoist when lifted, but you could easily use a towel to keep this from happening.

And then I just sat it on 4 jackstands while I did the flip and notch.

Northern Tool, mine was about $260 with the leveler included. It's a 2 ton hoist and had really good reviews. Worked flawlessly. I was going to get the one at HF but the reviews were not so good, and it did not come with the leveler.

Your truck is killer, truly inspirational. Good luck!

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Oh, and I will save you a little more time. The 4x4 is exactly 6 feet long, and the side 2x4s are 4 feet long. I used a long eye bolt and drilled a hole exactly in the center of the 4x4 with a big washer and nut on the bottom. No damage to the bed, and it cost me about $20 in materials.

The cherry picker is a great way to do it. Unfortunately I didnt have one or the room to store one. My compromise was the chain hoist and lowered it down on furniture dollies. By useing Harbor Freight discount codes I was in for about 70.00 and its all much easier to store for me.

Definitely, it all depends on what your situation is. I will need it for my '59 build so it made sense for me to get one. I have some wall space already lined up to store the hoist, so space was not a concern. In fact, I need it to MAKE space. I use it to lift heavy junk left over from both trucks and haul it to the scrap yard.

Decisions man I don't have a hoist and if I did it probably would pull down my garage and house lmao. And I don't have room for a cherry picker. And I don't trust my neighbors. One of them almost dropped the truck on me one day he was running the jack for me idiot! I will get it figured out. I am at the Point now I need the rear dropped.

Find somebody on the board who's close to you who wouldn't mind lending a hand. I know there are regional pages within this forum so you could find someone who could help you work on that beautiful truck. you know if i had a cherry picker, id just come up and help.

second thought, maybe i need a cherry picker.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

So it is going to take me a couple days to get use to the new interior. Do I like it yes I do. But I have had the green interior for so long it was the norm for me. Do I regret changing it nope. It looks killer. But it will take me a couple days for it to sink in lol. I just need more black so it all matches now. 1 thing I didn't like about the dash pad a small thing is the 4 screws that run along the passenger side the ones below the vents is the holes are not already in the pad and it was no fun trying to get the screws in the clips under the dash. Besides that pad was dead on.

Looks killer, I want to revamp my interior too. I would really like to put the bezel in my truck with the chrome guage rings. Where did you get yours?

Thank you. I do like it. Can't wait to get it out of the garage and see it during the day.
I got that bezel with chrome from LMC.
