Actually this Suburban will be totally different from my 48 truck. This 53 will be everything that my 48 isn't. Shorter build, less money, more of a comfortable (LOW) family hauler. Marc

It came from Oregon, but spent the last 15-20 yrs in MI. Quite a few of those years outside. The township started fining the PO's since it was non-operational and that is when they moved it inside. I looked a while before I bought this one, and I saw a lot of junk go for quite a bit more than what I spent. Another plus was that this has all (3) rows of stock seats which are hard to find and expensive to buy when you do. Yes, I think it is a good foundation. Thanks for your interest. Marc

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
thats a really nice OG truck. Killer patina and style. I'd like to have a survivor like that, keep it untouched for the most part.

Thanks guys! i'm gonna keep it just like it is right down to the original seat that has never been covered and the old wood bed! Anyone know what the value of it is as it sits now? i was told it would be worth more like this than restored, whats your thoughts? Last edited by still1graphics; 12-08-2013 at 06:42 PM. |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
You might check the cab between the cab and the bed. If it was repainted without disassembly, the original color might still be showing there.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
still, value like most old cars and trucks is not the most even across the board thing. Some guys like them just like this, some like them restored, some like a restomod, some like em hotrod/custom. I'd leave it as is because of its character, stands out big time, the patina tells a long story ya know. anyone can strip this down and paint it green, but then your like alot of others out there, or.... you can have this and stand out that much more. I been keeping and eye on what stuff is going for. Sadly the I6 engines aren't bringing much money, hope that trend changes. I just seen a killer "bomb" aka pimped out custom style, lowered, painted two tone, visor, bumperettes etc etc get very little bids, on the other hand, seen a more original painted with door logo truck go for maybe 16,200, thats about the highest I been seeing. some restored stuff can def get into the 20-30k mark but its all about finding the right buyer. this as it sits, i'd say around the 10K but again depends on the buyer. If it had IFS, updated engine trans, nice interior that price quickly can towards 20k give or take. The good thing is, I'v really been noticing these trucks value going up. Most s10 swaps, patina trucks I'v been seeing around 15k mark. Sadly some stuff sells for less than its worth and some for way more. Seen a really nice s10 swap sell for 13k, it was painted and had a ton of work done, felt like they should have gotten more. Seen a patina bagged truck go for 30k, I'v seen alot of those and not many were up that high, so it just depends on the day I guess. Whats it worth to you is the question? worth enough to keep it, I think so.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
99 to life, i think you nailed it... i have been told by young and old to leave it just like it is and just enjoy it. Like you said it stands out in a crowd and gets thumbs up and compliments every time i take her out for a cruise! I might do a flat clear coat just to preserve the finish for now. Like you said it's probably worth more to me than the next guy, besides my 5 year old loves it!!! Thanks for the good advise.

Hey 99 to life, what you got against us "green" trucks. Just pulling you chain, you are correct on your points, each builder has to make his choice and enjoy it for what it is...Jim

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
ok i'm wanting to clear coat my truck to preserve the finish and patina. i was wondering if anyone knows of a good FLAT clear i could use? also it has to go over the lettering and pinstripes wich are one shot enamel paint. i don't want it to be glossy so it keeps the original look but protects it from mother nature... thanks for any help!!!

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
oldman, LOL yeah nothing wrong with green. i shoulda said yellow!!!! I actually will have a few painted trucks someday, working on a two tone with white roof and a custom seafoam bluish metallic bottom. Really want a red truck at stock height too, I'm not into red or stock height but for some reason those two would be killer.
Still1, you can hit up pretty much anyone, I believe they have flattening agents you add to the clear. I think I spoke with a couple guys about it a couple years ago, one was eastwood and can't remember the other. Its def out there and people have done it. Only reason I haven't tried it yet is the fact that the surface gots to be super clean of dirt and grease and my truck is located on dirt roads so I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
