Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Well I got the 700r pulled now. Temped to just go one step further and pull the engine and start working on the firewall but if I do that I can tell things are going to escalate real quick and then pretty soon the front end will be off and this truck won't see a road for months if not a year so gotta hold myself back haha

Dropped the 700r off today at the tranny shop. We shall see what's all going on or how much it will cost.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Thanks buddy!
Well figured I might as well make some kind of progress on the truck even though it doesn't have a tranny in it, so I got my 3/16's brake lines to use from the prop valve to the rear brake hose that goes to the axle. I also bought all the 3/16 to 1/4 adapters to go into that rear hose and into the proportioning valve as well as a big jug if brake fluid so all I need now is to order a proportions valve "kit" with the new lines for the master cylinder and the bracket included so if that doesn't fix my rear brakes not bleeding problem and the late starting pedal then I'm not sure what to do |

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Well just ordered my prop valve kit from CPPand as I was looking through there trouble making magazine (since everytime you open it, you can really get in trouble haha) and I found my fix for the steering shaft. Looks like CPP is going to find it's way into my steering now haha. They make a collapsible steering shaft that has the rag joint on the box end and a u joint on the column end so that's what I'll go with. Does anyone know what size shafts and how many splines are on the 70-72 truck tilt column or the early 70's can tilts that everybody swaps in these trucks?

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Don't know if it's a bad thing or not but I usually post here and right after I start looking around and talking with people to get the answer I'm looking for, kinda works as a back up incase I can't find anything. Picked up another part today. I went to Modesto and was looking around at probably the coolest pepboys I've ever been to and got a part from edelbrock for my carburetor that I've been meaning to get forever!

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Well the new edelbrock fuel line I got points directly to my upper intake bracket for the AC.. So I'm going to have to take that bracket off, as I don't have the ac hooked up.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Well 67 is very un-roadworthy as it sits right now, trans is still out so doesn't drive, took the collapsible steering shaft out to check the splines and size of shafts to buy the new cpp steering shaft, so it doesn't steer, then next up is the brakes I've got the new lines on and waiting to morrow for the prop valve to come in so I can go get a fitting to go for the 1/4 rear port to 3/16's, so it doesn't stop either haha hopefully I can get the brakes all bled tomorrow and order the steering shaft and then as soo as that comes in I'll get that installed and then steering and brakes should be better then before... Still waiting for the tranny shop to give me a call to let me know what's happening, so I think tomorrow if I don't get a call by noo I'll call them and see what up.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
That's what I was thinking! I figure I'd give them 4-5 days since all they have to do is take the pump out and the pan off and check things out, I figure that's piece if cake for them since the build transmissions all day. So I'm hoping when I talk to them tomorrow they've got good news for me!

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Ok so right now my prop valves waiting patiently at home for me to come and install it, so hopefully tonight I'll have the brakes done up.
As for steering: ordered my new shaft from CPP so that'll probably come in around wed-thurs next week and I'll get that installed then. As for the tranny... Called the shop up and I guess somehow they weren't able to get ahold of me but they said Monday they'll have the right valves put in the pump to make it lock and unlock like original and then I'll put that back in with my new crossmember for CPP and then it's test driving time. Especially with gas as low as 2.95 around here I'm sooo looking forward to cruising! |

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Just for future reference I'm going to put down my experience with bleeding the rear discs using the 80's caddilac style caliper with e brake built in, I could not bleed the rear for the life of me and well today I finally decided it was time to take the caliper off and tilt it so the bleeder was TDC of the piston and bleed the brakes the way (to be sure without a doubt no air is trapped in the piston) and sure enough it still fought hard but I got em bled. So if your having problems give this a try. Here are some words incase this gets searched: rear disc brakes , brake bleeding problems, rear discs won't bleed, help bleeding brakes, 80's rear disc calipers , brake bleeding

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Well porterbuilt sebt out a package for me today, so as soon as I can figure how to track my package I'll know when it's supposed to come in. So that's the good news... But there has to be bad right? Of course.. Turns out the shop hasn't even began to do anything with my 700r. So I'm waiting on a call (whenever they do call) to go pick it up.. So I'm hoping it's going to be within a reasonable amount if time and that why actually get ahold of me this time they call. And CPP sent me an email telling me some of the parts that consist of there collapsable steering shaft are on back order so I assume it's going to be about a week and a half before I should start expecting it since tomorrow is also a holiday. So for now the truck is still just up in the air in the garage.. Been cleaning the frame more and more, since I have nothing else to do on the truck... Also might be in the process of buying a 67 camaro... (I know I know.. I have to many projects as it is..but I've gotta get this one and secure it so I at least have the car when the time comes)

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
You ain't akiddin! I'm pretty excited to feel what my brakes feel like now that the rear will actually be doing some braking! Not to mention if I get the new steering shaft in time, should take a lot of play out of the steering wheel. But I guess in a way it's nice since I have the trans out I can clean up the frame and underneithofthe cab after the th350 and when my 327 just decided to Leak all over the can and frame. Ah yes the camaro.. Still waiting for the 67 to get running so I can go down and see if he's interested in selling the car, my friend told me about his cousin who bought the car just because of the price. But he knows from my friend how interested and how much I love the 67' camaros that he wants to talk with me before he decides if he'll sell it to me. I'm guessing it's one of those things where he just wants to know the car will go to a good home. But I guess it's a 50/50 shot the good news is he's got a newborn and he probably could use the money he spent on the car back. But that's also the bad news since he might decide to keep the car for his kid.
