Still piling up parts for this one. Cam should be a decent thumper and add 50-ish hp. Gonna try to squeeze around 400 horse outta this little 5.3

Tossing around ideas on bed treatments. The all black looks good, but I like the contrast of the stainless (unpolished) strips, too. I’ve also thought about doing a weathered look, but if that’s the case, I could just install the old rotten pine... Any thoughts?

Stainless or body color with pictures 3 or 4 look good in my opinion.

I would go with black and use POR15 to do it. If you check Mar-K's website, they did some longevity tests on bed wood stains and pain and the POR15 held up the best. Just my .02$. OBTW, the truck looks great!

Thanks, need to start installing some of this stuff. The all black is how early trucks came from the factory, so that’s what makes me want to go that route

Yes, I’ve seen their tests and I’m convinced. Por-15 and black Behr exterior paint ftw

I wish I knew who supplied LMC with the aluminum wood-look product. It would be awesome to have that with a black wood look instead of real wood. I've been thinking of going to a wood bed, but can't really afford the full conversion from a steel floor, yet. I saw the black wood with polished strips on a red truck on instagram two days ago and I really like it. After seeing what you've posted pictures of, I'm liking it even more.

Thanks for posting about that Hart_Rod.

I hadn't seen those tests but Im fairly convinced now as well. Ive always figured on epoxy and clear, but those results make it hard to go that route.

I guess I'll be the odd-ball. I really like it all black. In the second pic, that blue isn't that far off from yours and it just looks good to me all black.

Any benefit to using plastic composite deck boards? Think if you could find a color or finish you like it will hold up for a long time.

I actually contemplated doing that, but it doesn’t fit the look I’m after. Add to that my lack of woodworking tools available and pre-cut Mar-K oak is the ticket

More parts piling up in the house. I don’t have Dakota Digital money (and I really don’t like the clock in the center), but I couldn’t pass up on a Labor Day weekend deal on these New Vintage 69 style gauges. Should save me some time and heartache trying to adapt everything to the LS. I dig the way they look modern, yet not out of place.

They still need some minor tweaking to get them seated correctly, but I couldn’t resist mocking them up for a look-see. The through the dial lighting and illuminated pointers seal it for me
