Is that a rhetorical question? Maybe I just read too much into it.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

Anyone else make their own jerky? This batch is venison. I can’t stand the store bought stuff. I found this recipe on the web and modified it a bit. If you’re looking for a recipe it’s delicious!

5-lb of meat in 1/4-3/8” slices
2-cups worcestershire
2-cups teriyaki
1-cup soy sauce
4-tsp onion powder
2-tsp garlic powder
1-tbsp sea salt
5-tsp black pepper
8-tbsp brown sugar
2-tbsp honey
1-tsp cayenne pepper (add more if you really like it hot)
Sprinkle red pepper flakes after you lay it on the trays
Dehydrate at 160-deg for about 8-hrs (mine I have to flip the trays top-to-bottom half way through)

I leave out the pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper to make a sweet batch for my kids.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

Happy New Year Y'all!!!

so what does a heavy junk mechanic and his son do on new year's day?

why what else, put a 1979 Lego mobile crane together of course

this is actually one of my many 70's kits, amazing that everything was there except ONE small unique part!

not to let that stop us, easily substituted with same piece in different color

Re: My Facetruck thread.

CRAZY FACTS ABOUT PLAYING CARDS

The Chinese invented playing cards in AD 1000.
Some interesting facts and observations about "Playing cards":
Did you know that the Traditional Deck of the Playing Cards are a strikingly coherent form
of a Calendar?
There are 52 weeks in the year and there are 52 Playing Cards in a Deck.
There are 13 weeks in each Season and there are 13 cards in each suit.
There are 4 Seasons in a Year and 4 Suits in the Deck.
There are 12 Months in a Year so there are 12 Court Cards (Those with faces namely Jack,
Queen, King in each suit)
The Red Cards represent Day, while Black Cards represent the Night.

If you let Jacks = 11, Queens = 12, and the Kings = 13, then add up all the sums of 1 + 2 + 3
+ ...to 13 = 91. Multiply this by 4, for the 4 Suits, therefore 91 x 4 = 364,
Add 1 that is the Joker and you will arrive at the number 365 being the Days in a Year?

Is that a mere coincidence or a greater intelligence?
Of interest is the sum of the letters in all the names of the cards, e.g., add up the
letters in "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, Jack, Queen, King" = 52!
The Spades indicate ploughing or working.
The Hearts indicates Love thy crops.
The Clubs indicates flourishing and growth.
The Diamonds indicate reaping the wealth.
Also, in some card games 2 Jokers are used; Indicating the Leap year.
There is a deeper Philosophy than just merely Playing Cards.
The Mathematical perfection is mind blowing.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp.
They rub it and a Genie comes out.
The Genie says, "I’ll give each of you just one wish."

"Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk.
"I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world."
Puff! She’s gone.

"Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep.
"I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life."
Puff! He’s gone.

"OK, you’re up," the Genie says to the manager.
The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Moral of the story:
Always let your boss have the first say.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I'll be sure to wait from now on

So I've been trying to get something started with this homeowner since before Christmas. This place is interesting. The focus has been the rancher out back because that's what he's got fixed up for staying in (not his prime res). Still needs work and some things redone.

The main house here is an 1895 mansion. This is out in farmland at the edge of what was more of a town in the 1800s than now. Been trying to find the history. Next door and closer to "Middleburg" is Bowling Brook Farms, a famous thoroughbred breeding & training farm. What I think is this place, called "Brookfield" was built by Walden or his daughter.

There is water damage in one corner that he has finally cut me loose on. Just been passing by this place, yeah yeah big house. But dayum! that house is huge!! You go into that place and it really hits you, especially going upstairs. 14' ceilings, second floor, too. In fact, there's a full attic, including dormars, turrets, etc. and it is immense. T & g floor the whole attic and the dprmars, etc. are all paneled out in beaded. There's even a bathroom up there. What a view! Must be a good 30' up.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

My daughter has the charger to my camera (she recently gave me), been camera-less lately. I can't wait to get some pictures. This place has been turned into a retirement home. I think it housed up to 16. Not too chopped up inside. The fire escape has been taken down. Those doors are original, though. I wonder if there were balconies or what? This place sits on a high plain with a wide view of Catoctin Mt. to the west. Great sunsets. When you are in the attic it's like being in an airplane compared to my place

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I feel like I'm on an overhaulin' episode. As most of you know I've been fighting lymphoma for thelast year. I'm going to start radiation on a rogue lymphnode next week. As a result I haven't had the energy or drive to work on "Blue". So on Saturday a friend showed up with two trailers. He told me some of my friends have gotten together and want to help me out. They loaded my truck and the new frame and hauled it off. Last night he called and said the suspension and differentials are in the new frame. The new trans is built. He's thinking they're going to have the cab and bed back on it by the end of the week. I'm excited....
