Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
WAY, WAY off topic...but speaking of taxes, I have been assured by my accountant that this hobby of ours could be turned into a "business" for tax purposes. It would require the sale of at least one vehicle per year, and profit/loss statements along with the paper to back it up.
With your day job and the wheel tub venture in the mix and you might have a reason to try it.

Nice work on the glass fenders! I would be all smiles too. I know how much time is involved with something like that.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
thats interesting news i wonder if you can get other stuff the rent of the buildspace back from the taxman as whell ....... you do need to pay enough tax to get some back
i made the mistake to write myself in as a courier company and had to be a member of some guild because of it , need to get something more generic as a busines next time

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
cheby, did you get a patent on that design? just wondering how the business side of that works as far as copy cats stealing your design. It seems like it will be a big seller given the popularity of these trucks and the quality fit and looks of your "sloshtubz" . They look excellent you da man!

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
the green is just for kicks...one of my favorite colors though, these fenders are just "PLUGS" for molds now they wont ever be used.......that sucks !! so we just had fun with them !!

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
i dont think a patent would work most of the times they can get out from under it by changing the desighn slightly , you be in courth fighting more than benefitting from the patent .............. it would be an idea if you have sumting you can sell to a big company and have them fight the copycats , a rubicubic its not

You may be able to write off some business start up costs of getting these tubs ready for sale and for building your truck as a rolling advertisement for the product. I would talk to your accountant to see what you can do. Next step after the accountant is a business lawyer. You want to insulate your personal property from the business completely so if for some reason the business goes under then the debt collectors can't go after your personal assets. It's been ten years since I ran my own business so I can't give you any advice on what the current best way to incorporate your business is right now. Good luck, you have a great product and I'm sure it will sell well.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
this is going to sound bad...but i dont know ( i am almost positive ) than from the inside of the fender brace to the edge of the tub near the engine is about 13 inches, if you look back through my build thread there is some pretty good front shots , i think you will be able to tell pretty close where they come to, thanks Mike

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
not a common question im sure. When you get a set back let me know no rush. Would you be able to use a billet hood hinge and clear or is a porterbuilt hinge a must???
