Thumbs up Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I ordered some single E trac clips and straps to mount on the Ramp truck for tying down small stuff like bikes & golf carts. I used 3/8" grade 8 bolts threaded into the top of the bed.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Cool Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Thanks guys!

She loves old cars and wants an old truck, like a 40s / 50s that has fenders and running boards. But her mom said No!

She is always driving my brothers old Model A cars and trucks when we are at his place in East Texas. She loved that V8 and for the record she is driving it!

She has grown up with them all her life. Well, so did I for that manner. My Dad had a 1930 Ford Coup, but the bug bit my brother real bad. It is what he does for a living working on these old Fords.

While these are Fords (sorry), we have great times in them. Personally, I don't care about the make, a great car is, well a great car!

I just started a few weeks ago but today I installed 1 deville tail light housing. I fabbed the housings from my cut down bedside scraps! I’m terrible about figuring out how to add pics btw!

Thanks. Is yours the same color? It’s hard to tell from your pic.

It is 516 Tangier orange, although it was painted 15-20 years ago and has darkened quite a bit. The paint is significantly lighter underneath the trim

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Finally got that leak today!!!! Been chasing a header leak for the past 4 months. Went through 6 sets of gaskets all types aluminum, paper, dbld up, copper, and I kept having the same issue of exhaust coming out the top of the head ports of all ports. My heads are oval and headers are oval...so I thought...? Finally went with some round Cometic graphite metal and they solved the problem . I was at a loss of what to do beside buy new headers. Recommend these now to anyone! Also copper leaked like a siv. *♂️

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Got most of my parts back from the body shop yesterday so I started assembly. Removed the old bed fender, installed the bed steps, installed gravel shields, and sprayed undercoating on the replacement fender. Also drilled out the carriage bolts a PO used on the bed fenders and installed stock style screws.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Got the old girl purring today, thanks to my new friend Eddie. We discovered the timing way off, too far advanced. Back to a factory 8 degrees, and she really smoothed out. Then getting the dwell back to 30, and some carb adjustment. Wow what a difference.

Also found that the mufflers are shot, broken inside and rattling loudly... so off to the muffler shop ASAFP.

Also reconnected the cig lighter, and the AM radio antenna cable. Guess what, the 50 year old stock AM still works!

Got the hood adjusted so it doesn't stick up by the cowl too. So no new hinges needed.

Yeah ChevyGuy, these radios still work easily. I have the problem of the speaker not being hooked up right by a previous owner.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

That primer one I've got on there is temporary. I got the original one repaired and painted, but I'm going to install it after I install the door since the hinge bolts are a pain to access with the fender in place. I was planning on installing the grille at that same time, but I got impatient.
