Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks guys, I need to get my gas tank, rear bumper brackets and disc brakes installed this weekend so hopefully I can get the bed on next weekend. Hopefully I don't run into any problems. I already have to modify the rear bumper brackets to clear the bolts on the rear crossmember because I had to move that back in the frame to put the gas tank in.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Worked on the rear of the truck this weekend. Got my Wilwood rear disc conversion done. While I was at it I installed a new Moser differential cover. Also got the rear bumper brackets and the gas tank bolted in for good.
Next weekend the bed is going on I can't wait

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks Ben, I hung a little inspiration up in the garage. Taped it to the top of the toolbox to remind myself what I'm building every time I grab a tool

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Did you get the E-brake cable for your rear brakes? If not, what kind of ideas do you have? I ordered my rear conversion from scottshotrods, but I didn't get the cable. He said it was (I think) $150. I couldn't bring myself to pay that much for a cable. I'm going to do what I can to modify the stock cable to work.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Now that I'm aware that Lokar makes a cable set up that works with Wilwood, I'm going to check it out. Thanks.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
I checked on Summit racings website and it looks like the Lokar and the Wilwood cables are the same ones. The only difference is the price. The Wilwood is $119.95 and the Lokar is $131.27. Both are 96" long cables in black braided stainless. I'm just going to order the Wilwood when the time comes.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks, I don't think I will ever attempt a full frame off ever again. It has been way harder then I ever expected. My next build will start with a rust free foundation and I will just change things like suspension, drivetrain & wheels.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Keith. I am definitely with you on that note. Pay more for a good base then add goodies. We will see if that really happens. I know rust free is definitely in the future though.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Keith, Did you have any interference issue with the Moser diff cover and the Porterbuilt panhard? I was thinking of running one, but I thought I had remembered someone giving Nate a call to get a custom bent panhard because it was hitting.

Yeah it fits with no issues. I saw it on superflysteiny Pops Cheyenne truck, so I figured I would give it a shot. My chrome cover leaked so I had to change it out.
