I am going to try the tap that Vic said. I hope I have one. I have 100's of taps but want to take a bet that is one I don't have. anyway I will buy one if I don't.

Re: 1968

I did not work on my truck today. I worked with my Son-In-Law replacing the roof on his tool shed. It was in bad shape. it leaked and he did not think he was going to replace it. But he thought better when he priced a new shed. Sometimes age has it's advantages.

Re: 1968

Today I bought a tap M10x1.50 for the stripped door hinge bolts. Guys it worked out real sweet. I went ahead and done all three bolts. That way they would be all the same on that hinge. There is a big difference in the hex size from American bolts. The old ones are 3/8 and the Metric is 17 MM. But who cares of that. All I know it worked and no damage to the truck.
I am hoping to paint the black of the truck tomorrow. I shot the orange and didn't cover the inter grill/rad core support as you can see in the picture. Then I will paint the hinges areas so that they will all look good.

Re: 1968

Today, I had to install some tile in a bathroom. But I still painted the front of the truck. To cover up the over spray. This last week we had a thunder storm with 45 mile winds and it made my canopy useless. I will have to go and buy another canopy. I thing I will try a better one this time a 7 mil instead of the 5 mil it came with.

Re: 1968

Wow, your truck is looking great. I am a high school teacher and am finishing up my spring break here in indiana. Not much of a spring if you ask me. I too am stuck outside with my build and the march snow is putting a damper on my plans!!!

Quick question. My next task is changing out my rusty old trailing arms. The only parts I'm missing are the u-bolts as I had to cut them off due to rust. Any IDEa where I can get the right set of ubolts?? Thanks and good luck finishing her up. I'll be watching

Re: 1968

Today I mounted the cowl and adjusted the body lines on the two fender with the cowl

As you can see I bumped the paint off on the door edge. I will have to repaint the door again. no big thing though. I hope to mount the hood back on the truck. Then all my parts to the body will be back on the truck. What is the easiest way to adjust the hood.
I will start the bed supports next. I will have to spot weld the bed supports and then remove the frame and weld them together solid. I am planing on raising my bed 5 inches.

George buy some green paint tape and line all the edges, it will help keep the paint chips from happening.

It acts as a cushion. This way if you do bump the tape, the tape takes the blunt of the action.

the reason you should use frog tape it does not lift the paint so much. blue or green will work.

I understood that part. Just wondering why green? Is a certain tape better than others?

"The green tape adheres to automotive surfaces and removes cleanly after you've completed the job." I guess 3M is saying it sticks, but it will not lift paint.
