Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I worked on my bed a little and then I cleaned up the garage, I did buy a different cab for 200.00 with very little rust, so I put mine on ebay for 145.00 but she needs a lot work. Anyhow i'm thinking on changing my palns for the truck, I was going to paint it sour apple green and have bigger wheels on it and lower it and do all that cool stuff to the enigne so I can hear all those wows and oh my's but I may just go to old school and for get about all that and drive it. Those are my thoughts in the last 10 minutes stay tuned for another mind changing episode.

I started to line the interior with Second skin and got the firewall done and the new two speed windshield wiper motor installed and the heater.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Not today but Thurs. 7/22.

Finally got my 66 C-10 Long box up and running. Tore it down to shortblock and put in a gasket kit. The truck hasn't been run for the last 5-7 years (shame on me...). I had built the engine approx. 10-12 yrs ago.

Specs:
355 CI
882 Heads w/ racing valve springs (I wish my heads were better casting #s)
Edelbrock Victor intake
Holley 600 CFM carb w/ trick kit
Lunati 488 lift 292 duration (230 @ 0.050")
Crane Roller Tip Rockers

I HAD FORGOT HOW GOOD MY PIPES SOUNDED!!! Dam I missed them!

When it fired up my kids burst into the garage to see what the commotion was about. When I went in for supper my daughter (8) told me she hasn't seen me this happy in a long time. "Dad you sure are smiling alot."

A little sonic therapy goes a long way...

The Cylinder Index (or C.I.) is a measurement device in which the total number of internal combustion engine cylinders (working or non-working) owned by an individual (single-cylinder chainsaws, lawnmowers, 2-cycle, 4-cycle, multi-clinder diesels, trucks and farm tractors) are tallied. Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Spent a few hours today getting the parts truck all striped down. Just a couple more and the motor and trans will be ready to pull. All that is really left for that is exhaust, bell housing and torque converter, and all of the mounts. Could have finished that pull today, but my cherry picker is at another friends shop. So I spent more time cleaning out all the extra garbage parts from the engine bay, and started working on the interior some too. It was very hot this weekend, so it was kind of hard to stay focused as wells as hydrated.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Picked it up!

Had to take it to a trans shop for a rebuild on the th350. Guess you have to run a trans cooler sized for the weight of the vehicle rather than just what tranny, I didn't know this. So I fried a transmission. At least the rebuild comes w a warranty! I will be putting on a MUCH larger cooler, 28000gvw, tonight when I get home... after I drive real slow on back roads the whole way trying to keep temps down!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I came to the conclusion that the factory drums do not give me warm fuzzies in traffic in the kansas heat. Guess its time to pick up the conversion kit.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Thanks guys, I was going for something close to the original tan color so this is a little light. I liked the red oxide too and the dirty look, so maybe once I get to doing that on this color I may like it better. I think I don't like it because the wheels don't quite look right with it, but the wheels match the seat PERFECTLY.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Maybe add some side trim with the red oxide color as the accent color?

Are you planning to leave the paint as is or will you be doing a "Patina" job on it?

Got to patina it. I use my truck and love driving it. The main reason I like the patina is that I don't have to worry about some A-hole banging it up or scratching it. So if it has the dirty look I can touch it up as needed or leave it if it looks good.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Then if you use red oxide poking throug the tan it should look killer with the existing wheels, IMHO! Keep us posted on the results.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I fixed the turn signal switch. Anybody else have a brand new switch that required some re-bending and trimming of the little springs in the switch.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I started disecting 198plus' cab to see how bad it was butchered up.

I braced to cab prior to surgery.

This is what he got from a restoration shop that he paid good money for.

Only two of the welds along the top were even hitting the inner rocker. The ones along the bottom weren't much better.

They used kitty hair to cover up there mess, or tried to cover it up.
