Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
I think a good buffing cloth grinding wheel should make it shine. Then just do a good clear coat on it.

X2! Clear coat offers great protection. Clear coat is what protects the base coat from UV rays And gives it the shine! Wonderful stuff! lol

A good buffin never hurts. Thats what I did with my bezel and that thing shines like crazy.
Sorry to put a vid on with all sorts of Corney stuff. But if you look at the beginning the bezel does shine. |

Eastwood makes a bare metal clear coat that works really well.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Rian (Grizz) had sent me this Cross of St. George flag, so in the shed it now resides…
IMG_4842 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Not much of an update… been focusing on getting the P/S sorted on the '72 but today I visited my friend and got him to fire up his Plasma cutter and get the axle cut down, this will be my Spare tire mount for the stepside fender…. IMG_4932 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Should be getting my wiring harness ordered this next week and if my son's friend doesn't come up with the money for those wheels, I will be retrieving them from the son's place...

Always cool to see an update on this thread. Flag and how you got it is awesome! I did a headliner in a VW bug with the Stars And Stripes once. Did you order the other wheels or is the sale of your old ones a clincher?

Thanx!!! Had axles from my 90 model that were no good, so before I make a run to sell my junk metal, I scarfed this flange...

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Gotta move the other wheels first...
Rian is a great guy and when the Confederate flag issues started popping up here in the colonies, he enlightened me to the same type issues some in the UK have over the Cross of St George flag...

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Not a lot happening this week, Supposedly the boy's bud is bringing me Wheel money tomorrow… time will tell...
After some cleaning and rearranging in the shed… I grabbed the spare tire carrier and was going to prep for paint when I realized my crappy weld job on the axle flange, as well as the mess the plasma cutter left, was going to require some attention... Here's where I ended up, still need to do some weld grinding on the cover (which ended up being a ceiling fan hanger cover) and then paint the whole shebang...
