Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Here is the factory set up

Cut the holes in the lower four and center upper to fit the Autometer 2 1/16th" gauges

Added a little paint

The speedo and tach backing clamps ,where a tad to short for the sheet metal backing panel so,, I added a little RTV and waa la

The autometer 2 1/16th" gauges fit the lower four spots in the factory panel like they are born there

The factory panel had the highbeam light in a gauge so, had to add one,
sadly the hole is a little off center..

The speedo and tach fit the factory holes "almost" the factory rolled the metal edges, so to close up the hole a little, I unrolled the flange a little , and Waaa la..

The highbeam and turn signal lights are l.e.d.

and the finished panel , only thing missing is the upper three gauges glass,
that is being buffed, then I'll install and have a better pic of the finished product..

its not so bad.wiring doesnt scare me haha.i am going to use steel and some fiberglass mat around the sierra dash pieces.i started to make a higher rise cap tonight to clear the harness plug that comes out of the top of the gauge.for below the gauges i have to mock up my newer steering column and shape around it.hers a couple pics from tonight.i will have more as i go in my build thread

not a problem.after spending a great amount of time laying on my back staring up under the 67 dash theres all kinds of hiding room.just have to build a bunch of brackets and get some good wire clamps.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Changed the motor mounts in my 70. What a gigantic PITA!
Hope to get the headers and exhaust system in tomorrow and get it to the shop so they can work on my tranny and brakes. Hope to have it ready for the Legends Get-Together next Sunday.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Added a new Antenna and ran wire for speakers today. Nothing too crazy but a major pain to take out the glovebox liner without ruining it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Son and I gave up on trying to use the angle grinder with wire brush to get rust off...too many places are hard to get to. So, we decided to get it sandblasted. Then, we started pulling the front end off, so we can get as much of it blasted as possible. Still gotta pull the lower control arms/shafts, then the crossmember. Next week, we're gonna finish that part, then pull the rear end/trailing arm ass'y.

Drove it to work and back, then changed the oil and a header gasket. First time in awhile I could even get a vehicle in my shop!

Got my chassis completely ready to go to the sandblaster. Whew! Gonna send the cross-members (engine and trans), the trailing arms and the control arms (U & L), too. Pix, later.
