Someone with some welding and fabrication skills could fix that damaged bedside fairly easily, if you plan on learning all that stuff then save it and fix it later after you have the necessary skill and you can either use it on a different truck or save it as a spare.

I agree the bedside is fixable, all of the body panels i have and do pull off to replace for more straight nicer panels I keep stored. I'm always willing to have spare 67 only parts incase I need a back up.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

Well little update, went to another car show with Kevin (Kevsclassics) and some other c10 club members to the rods on the bluff car show in Fresno CA, first show I've taken it to since I lowered the rear down. The truck now sits level although the higher wheel wheel arch on the front fenders compared to the lower wheel well arch on the bedside gives it the illusion that the fronts higher, for now I can live with the height.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

So I scored a part for the 67... But there's some history in what happened, Back in 99 my mom and dad decided to sell the house we lived in since the neighborhood started getting pretty bad (Winton CA) and at the time I was just 4 years old and one of the few memories I have of that age was watching a green truck pull up to the house (with the knowledge I have now I realize it was a 67 c10 with a small window) and I remember looking at the truck and thinking how cool it looked and how different it was from other cars I seen and I always remembered the small window on the back of the cab and the 67-68 front end. So growing up I would see the truck around here and there and it always had little changes done to it and the more I seen it the more I liked it and as you guys could have guessed it's one of the reason I've come to like the 67 c10 as much as I do. So let's fast forward to last month when I was at a car show, I seen that 67 and I go take a look at it and enjoy the car show. Just before I jump in my 67 to leave this guys comes up asking questions about mine and says he has one parked over in the parking lot. So I told him my story and he couldn't believe that I was from that family he bought the house from and he was telling me things he has planned for his 67, one of those being a reproduction smoothed tailgate, so I asked him what he was doing with the old tailgate and he said nothing so I talked it over with him and he decided that If I go over and take the tailgate off and install the new one he would give me the old one free so I managed to score a straight rust free nice tailgate and the even cooler part is its 67! So before I left I put the tailgate in the box for the repdrodcution one

Well... Haven't touched the tailgate at all lately, drove the 67 around like normal, other then that haven't done much with it lately... Something followed me home though..not a Chevy and not a truck.. Got a 59 Buick le sabre 4 door bubble top. I know you guys probably think I'm off my hinges but I actually like the 4 door.

Not off your hinges, they just need adjusting. Lol. Talk about a land yacht, you can throw a party in there. What are you going to do with it and does it run?

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

Haha! Well my plans for it are to find any missing trim, and replace all lenses as well as gaskets. Then next up I need to get a back seat and a driver front door glass. Sadly the 2nd owner pulled the motor and Trans so it doesn't drive or run, but at least that saves me the timeofpulling them. Really don't know what todo about a motor, If I'm going to cruise this car and take it to at shows ongoing to need overdrive, so a 700r4/4l60e is my plan which means the torque tube and rear axle have to go.. But there's no real smart choice about the engine, was thinking of putting the 364/401 nailhead in but I can't seem to find any of them around, and the way they got the tiny valves I those crazy angles there not the best performers, so then thought it would be cool to put a older caddilac motor in but I never see those motors for sale and I hear parts aren't readily avaliable in parts stores... So the only other motor I know I can get parts for if I breakdownonthe side of the road and perform pretty good as well as easy to find would be a small block Chevy... But I was really hoping to not put in a Chevy/gmc motor and instead a B.O.P or Cadillac but there's just no easy to find or good motor to have out of the 4 my last option is an LS, if I go that route it won't be anything fancy, probably just a 4.8 and a edelbrock intake to mount a carburetor. Whatever motor I choose I want to paint in the original color that buick painted there motors in 59 as well as adding the original air cleaner that I still have that came with the car. Not planning to make this some pro touring car or anything I just want it to float down the road/highway and also perform good on the highway with a decent mpg. Depending on how much the front comes down with a motor in, I may lower the car 2" and go with at least disks up front.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

Remember how much that weighs, I would be look for any 455/400 combo from the BOP group. You might have to buy 70's through 80's full size car but it would offer other useful parts too.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

I believe the cars complete are around 4300 probably 4250ish so it is considerably heavier then a c10. As for the suspension I'm considering cleaning the front up and add 2" drop spindles from Fatman fabrications, I need to call them and ask what bearings/rotor for those spindles they make but I would like to stay with the 5x5 bolt pattern. As for the rear depending on the width and avliability of rear disc brake kits, I'm considering either a 71-72 c10 12 bolt or a 65ish buick rear axle to ditch the torque tube

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

Well I got tired of dealing with the stock 67-72 small block motor mounts getting that bolt in to the mount through the tower is just ridiculous on the passenger side, and the mounts these days are made in either Canada, Korea or Mexico and the variances in them makes it difficult to keep that 383 in place so I decided to ditch the stock mounts and towers and go with POL (performance online)'s tubular black powder coated towers and mounts. They came in the mail today and I got them installed. I'm pleased with the assembly of them, I can already tell how much easier it's going to be if I ever have to change a mount or pull the motor. Granted the tube is thicker then the stamped steel mount and you lose room in that way but you gain more room in all the other areas that make it easy to wrench the mount off... Anyways I'm happy, motor feels pretty solid now and got rid of a super ridiculous annoying intermittent squeak/rattle.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

Well.. Sometimes my luck isn't very good at all. Been noticing a difference in the way the 383 was running and I've been trying to get the timing sorted out and get it to run nice again... Well after going through the cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs, retarding advancing the timing to get it just right, checking all vacuum lines and ports as well as the vacuum advance and adjusting the carburetor I was still left with a bit of a miss almost. So since the 5spd hasn't been acting very nice either I pulled the motor and Trans so I can check out the top end of the motor and see what's going on. Maybe timing chain is bad, or the gear on the distributor or a flat cam or maybe even a burnt valve so we'll see what's the deal. I also miss having an automatic. Shifting gears was fun but I miss having Park and all these little things that are nicer about an automatic... So I've got a 2002 4l60e that I'm putting in.... Got some plans coming. Tonight I finished removing all the clutch linkage the pedal and springs, also welded up the hole in the Trans hump on the floor so it's officially back to being an automatic cab.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

I have a bit of an update. I guess I should start with the beginning... Picked this up from a buddy for $800 02 5.3 and 4l60e. Motor was a giant mess. Besides obviously not being maintained appearance wise the motor only has 120k, took the valve covers off and you can eat off the inside of the motor (so to speak).
Here's after unloading the motor

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"

After much needed clean up and removing parts I didn't need I was ver unpleasantly surprised to find two exhaust manifold bolts broken off in the drivers side head.... After Weeks of patience and trying I got one of those unholy bastards out and the other one had to be taken out by the machine shop.... So finally got the motor ready for paint, I'm a fan of the way the 327's looked back in the early 60's and Chevys orange motors so I'm sticking with it. So I ordered a set of 4 position motor mount plates from LSX innovations, and I mocked the motor in to check fitment and placement.
