I m very proud of you. Have you gone back thru the first part of your build to see how far you have come?

You have accomplished so much and learned even more. Now go have fun.

Been a real test of discipline to not drive it because it really wants to GO...I just gotta get the chassis lubed, front end aligned, and the exhaust on before I go actual ape on it.

It has been a lot of fun, and an incredible learning journey up to this point. Just a bit more still....

I do go back and look at what I started with, even sometimes when I look at it sitting outside the window I think of all the time spent on it, how everything came off and got the attention that it did. Often it is hard to believe I did it all......and did it all in that cramped little garage all bundled up with sub-zero temps outside. It has been an adventure for sure.
I super appreciate your encouragement, and advice, as well as the motivaiton and information provided on your Vitamin C-10 build. You are definately one of the greats around here Alan.

Thanks for stopping by and looking guys.
Things are slowing down (but not totally at a stand still) on this build as I focus more on the Tow Truck for the great migration south in August. I got some serious dings out of the rear bumper and have been working on it as I wait for paint to dry on the other truck....

So enjoy your summer, and your own builds, I will post what ever updates I may have as I get them !!

Man that is too cool. Love the video editing as well, makes it more fun to watch. Congrats on the maiden voyage, that is always such a milestone. So are you attending Goodguys Spokane this summer, or will you be in the middle of moving? Also - if you do attend, are you bringing the truck? I'm sure a lot of people would show up just to look at your truck! Hope you're having a great week. Regards, Mark.

Goodguys is going to be up in the air....registration is kinda pricey, and we should be pulling into town the Wednesday prior. That is counting on a flawless journey however.... We will see though !!

I hope all you Oregon guys would like to meet up for coffee or beers while I am tearing thru your areas. I plan on skirting Portland on the 205 and being in Eugene no later than the 10th of August. If you would like to set something up for the 9th or so, hit me or Bomp up in PMs with contact info and we can squeeze something in.

That is, if Bomp isnt busy or out of town that weekend..... LoL

Glad to see the drive and that you made you deadline for the move. Be sure to include the trip in the posts, that will be a part of the story when you get finished. You have done a lot of work in extreme conditions.

Was wondering when you were planning on rolling on through these parts.
Got that weekend circled on the calendar. Gotta do a meet up or something with all the fellow forum members.
Between working on the Neglected Collection (guys on Instagram have gotten an eye full of that) and the drivers door on Steiner and the garden and work taking off in full speed I've often wondered when your journey was gonna hit here. You have my number?
Im down in the Salem/Keizer area. Thats about 45 mins south of Portland.

Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....

As you can all imagine, things are pretty busy around here, prepping for the move/road trip...

I did bring the camper shell in when we tore down the ATV tent, and these are as I was caulking the interior:
Name: 22jul14 camper shell re-do (1).jpg
Views: 635
Size: 64.8 KBName: 22jul14 camper shell re-do (2).jpg
Views: 600
Size: 52.5 KB

Sadly the progress on the shell was so speedy, and I was laying down stain/sealant before breakfast, type of stuff that I did not get any other photos of the pregress on it.

As soon as we tossed it back up onto the truck for the first time since it came off, I figured some Before and After photos were in order. This is the second photo I posted of this truck back on Page 1 of this thread, and has been a wall paper on one of my computers the whole time. Next to it is the one I took yesterday in comparison:

Name: d-side 22sep11 1966 Chevy Stepside (2).jpg

Yep those are the same rims and tires on there too....
That is the original camper shell the fellow before me built, it is structurally solid, though the roof plywood is card board thin...
It got a patch on the roof around where the pop up vent was installed, and new latches you can pad lock. New front window is still in the works.

The bed isnt finished, there was a snafu when milling the hinges that has set Jay and I back on that one. Good reason to stay in touch though, Jay is a great guy.
I still need exhaust, which is probably the No1 reason I am not driving the snot out of this thing....
Well, tags and licensing not with standing.

I seriously would never have been empowered to do all the nutty things I have done to this poor truck if not for the input and inspiration from the folks on this board. You dudes are the best dudes I know on the internet!! Thanks for everything !!

Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....

I like what you've done.
A canopy is a practical addition that I have given much thought.
The problem I keep having is how nothing looks right to me.
The only thing in my mind's eye that I can visualize working with our generation truck is something made from wood.
And now I see it on your truck.
A short stepside to boot.
I like it.

It really is well made, and two people can lift and carry it. I would still like to change the windows to something that opens with screen and tint to them, but that is for another day.
We have been joking around here about how it looks though.
