Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Heres my 86 gmc wrangler, have had it two months and love it.
305 51,000 kms all original. Power windows, locks, cruze control, no rust, was babied...sat on carpit for several years. Never seen snow. So far we've changed the ball joints, the weather strip around side windows, Crown done, a glass chip fixed, windows tinted, new plugs, wires and belt. Runs extreamly well, like new... hope you like =) |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Hi guys this is my first post ever on this forum. Here's some pics of my 1984 GMC High Sierra. Its a major work in progress. 2wd 1/2 ton, 350/350, new Goodyear wrangler RT/S tires, ball joints, pitman arm, Duralast Gold battery, fuel pump, starter, new 670cfm holley street avenger carb, new Sony stereo, speakers, amp, subwoofer, and a new dash pad The 350 in the truck was originally in a 1972 c20. Getting the engine and trans rebuilt over xmas break. Keeping it stock except for an edelbrock performer manifold, getting a mild cam, and keeping my 670 holley Sadly, I am putting a 2 bolt block into the truck that was originally in a 1973 caprice. It was just taking up space in my garage anyway. And it was FREE!
The body is not the greatest. It has rust holes in the rocker panels, and cab corners and some rust spots on the bed. Previous owner abused the crap out of the poor truck as it sat outside during a hail storm and the hood and roof have hail dents. The truck also has many other dents an has a very ugly blue paint job. The previous owner did not paint the bed or the inside of the cab. So there is still some original brown paint left lol. Also, he put a chevy grille on the truck and then did a very bad black paintjob on it. I also replaced the original bumper because the PO hit something with it and left a giant dent. Luckily, I found a bumper from an 81-82 at a swap meet for 35 dollars. Going to put some fog lights in the holes of the bumper. Any ideas for a paint color? I have brown/tan interior and i don't plan on changing my interior after buying a new brown dashpad. Most of these photos are older. These photos were taken before the new bumper and new tires were put on. |

I've been planning on upgrading tires to 33x12.5x15 .... would those tires fit on the stock 15" ralleys ?

You'll have to lift it a little bit to clear those. 2" is enough.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
It looks like it may be a little higher than stock already, it has what looks like something added to the leaf springs, I'll have to get a photo and share here to find out. Thanks for the help.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Damn, those r some nice rims! What kind are they?
How do u like the Nitto tires? Nice to see your wife drive such a nice truck. My ex-girlfriend used to complain when she would ride in my dad and my restored 1984 GMC 1 ton Pickup. She said that it was old. I like old. Need to find me a real woman that can appreciate a Real Truck! |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
I got this 85 silverado from the original owner a few months ago, It has a new 350/350HP motor with 20k miles on it. The body is free of rust and dents. Never been repainted so I need to have that done. Should I sand it all down myself? If so how much would I save? Both bumpers have to be replaced since they been bumped and twisted a little and I don't think they can be repaired. I need to replace all the door rubber and the drivers vent window since I tried to open it a few days ago and the bottom mount snapped off. Someone said it was a trip to repair. So I don't know If I should just get a new door. All the gauges work like new, The clock is on time better than my watch.
I got the truck for $3000.oo not sure If I paid too much but we need a truck to carry stuff from the big city 35 miles away and our car won't haul anything but a few bags a food. lol I want to get a Billet Grill and SS Hood and clean up the interior. I repainted the trim on the side as you can see from the last photo. But I would like to remove it. |
