Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Got some small stuff done.

Got my rad support almost ready for paint.

Had a good helper today as well. He wants to take this truck out...ha.

Got some more parts blasted and ready for paint.

Got some more parts painted... making some progress, I think.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Spent the day in the shop. Got the wires loomed up, fan on, rad support painted (one side), driver side inner fender has stripper applied and the fan on.

Started the truck briefly only to mar up the paint on my oil pan... thanks open headers... ha.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

i recommend that you blast those headers and paint them with a few coats of high temp ceramic paint to prevent them from rusting later on.

Sounds like a plan... I have a few days until I drive this machine.

Any recommendations on which product to use?

Took your advice... blasted headers tonight and painted with high heat ceramic paint.

Photos.... Finished product looks great... these photos do no justice.

Got the overflow tank cleaned up. Found a split in it. Any chance JB Weld may fix this?

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Got passenger side fender inside in primer and ready for paint.

It will be going yellow, same as the firewall.

I hope to get the fenders hung soon....

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

It appears I have a leak on my master cylinder. It is where the master bolts to the hydro-boost.

The bolts are tight. There is a slow drip of fluid. Anyone know if there is a gasket or seal between the mating surfaces?

I have fixed splits like this many times using a soldering iron with a flat screwdriver shaped tip (I keep an old cheap one just for this). Will weld them right back up. Just use the iron to melt and mend the split. Wiil work on all sorts of plastic parts on these trucks. Hope this helps.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Slow night, its Monday and rainy and cold here in Lindsay...

Did not really do anything. Painted the other side of my rad support and looked at my grill.

When the time comes I will likely go with an all silver grill, and get a decal made for the bowtie.

It looks like it has had some awful touch up in the past.

I would have to measure it. Not really worried about it at the moment. In between watching paint dry I started looking at it and thinking.

Then I said enough for tonight... came inside. To damp and cold.
