Re: Senior Project Build
I don't want to start the carb vs. injection BS on here, but these are my reasons:
-I am following the build that Car Craft did -I think the carb will make more top end HP -The tall plenum intake that the carb goes on will be perfect for my dream of a twin turbo system -I think it looks way more badass than the truck intake, or even a LS1 intake. Re: Senior Project Build
Didn't ask to start a debate either. Just curious as carbs on the LS truck motors is not a common setup. Uniqueness is worth it as well though
But... you know... the EFI LSx motors and twin turbos is a fun little toy: |

Re: Senior Project Build
I see lots of carb setups on the 5.3 and 6.0 motors, why would it be uncommon? (Just curious, not being smartass)
And is that "little toy" yours? |

Re: Senior Project Build
I'm talking as far as the builds on here and what I see at shows. Most guys just stick with the EFI. Though once into racing, I start to see more carb'd LS motors. Why carb'd LS motors uncommon? The ease at tuning the 5.3 and 6.0 truck motors brings some respectable power out of both power plants. That and the ease of drivability EFI brings is nice too (And also probably one of the motivations guys have to toss them into our trucks).
Nothing wrong with the carb'd LS motor, as it's seen on a larger scale much less often. Which by all means, is a good thing toward your truck I'd say. I wish that little 2800hp camaro was mine. http://jalopnik.com/5113462/earths-r...too-much-boost |

Re: Senior Project Build
Good luck buddy! I hope your build yields big numbers at the wheels and little ones at the strip.
PS...that Camaro is scary looking!

Re: Senior Project Build
C-10 KID that would be a nice carb for sure, and maybe eventually, I just know I can score a decent demon or holley DP off craigslist. I don't have a lot of money to put into this, how much would a custom quick fuel run?

Re: Senior Project Build
Great looking project! Of course I kept the FI for the ease of computer tuning with the turbos when they come around.
But the plumbing system and pump isn't cheap by any means! Do the carb, I think if you know how to tune them, they can make plenty of power. What cam specs you looking at? Those L92 heads can flow something rediculous! Good luck!

Re: Senior Project Build
I don't know about the cam, have any good ideas? I am planning to call COMp, tell them my specs and see if they have a grind of the shelf or maybe get a custom one made. I am looking for the most radical I can run on the street, even if I have to shift into neutral at stop lights =]

Let me do some research. There are plenty of nasty combos out there, you just will have to run a nice size stall.

Re: Senior Project Build
The Billet Holley HP fuel pump and regulator came in today. It is a nice looking piece! Very solid and heavy.
And I picked up the ET Streets! Massive for sure. They are so cool. I will get them mounted on the Halibrands as soon as Les Schwab opens. |

Re: Senior Project Build
Sweet! Are you putting those on the new wheels? I know they are ET Streets, but are they street legal?

Sweet...I see Santa Claus is making several stops at your house!
I just ordered that book from Amazon. I want to get familiar as I can with the motor before diving in to the swap.
