Re: 68 C 10 stepside "My American Bulldog"

So 4" rear drop, it'd be a good idea to flip flop my trailing arm crossmember?

I just turned the clips over. And you don't have to do it,
It's just to help handling a little.

Re: 68 C 10 stepside "My American Bulldog"

Hmm, well If I ever get bored, I"ll buy some grade 8 hardware and flip flop em, im all about better handling from these trucks..

Speaking of better handling..

You should get a 1 ton swaybar from 73-87 and mount it on your truck with new bushings, it helps ALOT!

Re: 68 C 10 stepside "My American Bulldog"

Thanks a lot,
It's feeling like progress.

Here is an engine caddy I built.
I seen it somewhere, Just can't remember where.
It worked great as a mobile stand,
If I make another one, I might put bigger wheels on it
I thought some of you may be interested.

I'm really wishin I didn't cheap out with my bolt ons, the finned aluminum looks sweet, one day I will upgrade, as for catching back up to you, you passed me before I had postponed mine, we'll see, if you keep doing such nice work I'll be too tempted to spend outta my budget and really drag this build out

Well, The billet bolt-ons have been pretty cheap.
There's a speed shop in Columbus GA. That deals
in volume. He has an ebay store as well.

http://stores.ebay.com/abad71camaro?_rdc=1

But I have to keep stepping on that "Might as well bug"
That keeps trying to get in my ear.
Now that "You really need to bug", Can be a pain in the a$$.
I just hope he doesn't get in my ear tomorrow, And tell me
that I need a total rebuild kit for my tranny

Budget? I get what I need, When I can afford it. LOL

Spike

P.S. Looking for a 12 bolt posi chunk

No, More delays. Axel's pushed back to 2/5/11.
Got all my shiny billet goodies, And shift kit.
Opened to tranny, And found some clutch and
brass material in the pan, Waiting on a rebuild kit.

Re: 68 C 10 stepside "My American Bulldog"

As i recall there a few special press tools needed ( i think 2 guys and some screwdrivers work too) to swap out clutch packs and I also beleve to install one of the packs inside a band.. What i cant figure out is what the copper line goes too, I have not seen that before. Its been about 1985 since i have been inside a turbo 350.

An extra pair of hands can be a big help!
But 2 paint can openers, With the ends ground sharp,
Grab the discs pretty well.

The copper line you see, Is actually white, Stained by fluid. Going
to the coil. That engages the locking torque converter.
This is not a regular th350, It's a th350c. That is why the kit had
to be ordered. They had the freshen up kit, But not the complete rebuild
kit.

Thanks for the tool tip! Yea couldn't quite figure out the copper line to an electrical coil type device (scratching head).. That makes much more sense.

It's not a complicated as you would think.
As long as you document everything you take off.
Including where the check valves are.
I lay the clutches and rings out in order.
Presoak the new ones, and re install.
