Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
I feel your pain, I had a rental that the partial basement filled up the floor rafters with irrigation water when they left town and the folks upstream kept a gate open. Took 14 hours to pump it out completely covered the furnace and water heater. Ended up replacing the furnace and all the WH electrical. It was a dirt floor and walls so we got to spend 7K for new foundation walls too. Hope you folks back east dry out, out here it seems like half the state is on fire, my lungs are feeling it bad.

Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
OrrieG, I feel your pain. Mother nature sure can screw things up.
Finally the water is done coming in. Ended up having to put a new hot water heater in and had to buy a new gas regulator for the furnace all and all another $700 with all the parts to hook it up. What a week from Hell. Sunday is the throwing out day. Before the storm, the basement looked good now every floated around and flipped over. We put everything in bins that way if we ever got water the things would be all right. That was wishful thinking. So hopefully things will be normal next week. Shannon |

Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
oldman3, Yes things are getting better. The fenders are fiberglass ,I think they are made by Veridine. They are 3 inches wider. I would not use them again if it was mine. When they made the fenders wider they just used flat metal to make them wider. They should have used an 2 fenders to make one or used an english wheel to make the filler piece. They are too flat on the top. And you can not tell from the pictures on the web that they are not crowned.
99 to Life,Thank you. It is shopline (PPG) epoxy. I can not wait to see it all one color. I guess things are just about back to normal. The insurance adjuster just left. They will not cover the roof ( which did not look bad) but they are covering the ceilings that when it leaked it ruined. And I think they are covering something in the basement. I had something in my insurance policy for sewer and sump pump damage. So I will know something maybe in a couple days what/if they are paying for some of it. Althought I think is going to rain the next couple of days. I told my wife we are moving to Arizona where is does not rain too much. I am tired of all this rain! Shannon |

Great job on the bed Cobba, looks fantastic. You sure don't mess around!!
I agree with what you're saying about the fenders. They do look way to flat. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
AUSSIE54, Thank you. I think they are just a little too wide. When I built the bed I did made it 2 inches narrower so it would not look so wide. I have a couple extra fenders so I should make ones 1.5 to 2 inches wider and then make a mold of them. Then make them in glass. A project for another day. But make them with the proper crown.

Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
Shannon,
No no! You should sell those fenders to me! Lol! I need a pair badly but am thinking I'll have to wait a while and maybe pick some up from a supplier there in the states (don't think I'm allowed to name them). Have seen them online, reproduction steel. I can get fiberglass ones here but that's it and I'd rather keep it all steel. Trently Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
AUSSIE54, I really is a shame you are half way around the world for me. I have seen the repo fenders and they look nice. I do not think they are as thick as the old ones, but they are steel. I wonder what shipping would be for you. There is a member that was from Germany on here and he said about the shipping being crazy for him.

Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
Shannon, the shipping can be expensive but it is what it is. Still I got my engine over here ok via a local importer in Melbourne. Getting the company to ship it from where I purchased it to the importers yard in LA, well, that was a bit harder! And yep, it'd be easier if we were closer neighbors!

Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
69CST-V, Thank you.
On another note I guess I have to take back my dodge comments. #7 rod was broke because water had filled the cylinder and bam, junkola. It was clear water and not anti freeze. Must have sucked up into engine with all the water we had. The wife was the last one to drive and you know it did make any noises and she did not hit any big puddles. I heard they have powder metal rods and that was the weak link. Shannon |

Blitz'd, I usaually do not go. I think that the stuff is priced way to high. And a lot of the time I think I threw away better things.

Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
Shannon,
love the builds you have going on. I hope your house is getting back to normal. This has been one wild year. Yall got a ton of rain and we got those tornadoes back in April. Insurance companies I am sure giving people some grief with all the money they are paying out. But on another note, you got mad skills...

Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
When you get a chance can you give me a measurement on where your front and rear cab mounts are. I just need some kind of reference point! THANX!

Re: 1954 Chevy / S10
Kabwe,Thank you. I should have it all primer after this weekend. Then it is going home. Good job on the cross member.
Fat Mike, My cab mounts are from the back of the factory front body mount. My mounts are made out of 3" tubing. The front edge of the front mount is 5 5/8" and the front edge of the back mount is 40 3/4". Also remember that my floors are not the factory floors. They are made out of 1" X 1" 1/8 wall tubing for the structure then 18 gauge sheet metal. Let me know if you need anything else. Shannon |

Where are they in reference to the frame. Like they are 47" from the front suspension shock hole. Thanks
