Re: My 89 CC Dually: Double Wide
Still progressing....
Seats all bolted down. Stereo wiring & cables routed. Dash w/new a/c vents installed. Gauge cluster installed but I still need to plug the new tach wire in to validate functionality & reconnect the speedo before I complete the install (bezel). It appears the relocated gas gauge is good to go. Door panels are now installed. Insulating them made a noticeable difference when closing the doors. They also got new electric switches where worn, new door handle trim bezels, & old school black door lock knobs. I really am glad I eliminated the door pull straps. So much cleaner..... Still need to finish up the connections for the stereo head unit & install the glove box. Next is to do a shop alignment & swap the master cylinder. Then re-install the bed for some line-X. My side project has slowed the pace (engine compartment makeover @RattleCanKustoms on a 70 elcamino SS clone). But, it's for my buddys son so its worth the added wait

Re: My 89 CC Dually: Double Wide
Gauges/bezel done. Speedo & tach both work. Something weird going on w/fuel gauge when using the pass side tank. Gotta research that one.....
Got the crossover duct installed for the drivers side a/c vent. Adjusted the toe. Much better. Progress.....

Re: My 89 CC Dually: Double Wide
Just the top & front LoL.... The rear can't really be seen so it was just buzzed w/a scotch-brite wheel. If the owner wants it smooth as well, he'll need to do that part. You can't see it so I usually leave it alone.

Re: My 89 CC Dually: Double Wide
Cleaned up the shop last weekend & got back to work on interior stuff.
Got the dash 'adapter' brackets for mounting some stock speakers in the corners of the dash from Crutchfield. I tweaked them so a pair of tweeters from some JL Audio 6.5" separates could be installed. I just made small drop down brackets from 16ga. after plotting them out on cardboard. Cut them out, used the vise & a small body hammer for the shape, tacked them into place, & them a little rattle can action......

Re: My 89 CC Dually: Double Wide
About the same time I got the dash speaker brackets, I also got the kick panel pods from Captkaos/73-87chevytruck.com/RodDoors. They fit pretty decent but needed some reinforcement IMO since they're just thin ABS plastic.
After plotting out where everything needed to be, I got all the mounting holes drilled. They supply double sided tape but I felt that wasn't good enough to hold a decent speaker up nor did it allow servicing. I used the existing holes in the kick panel for reference & drilled the mounting holes then cut the opening where the speaker trim fit the best (don't tell Porterbuilt but I just eye-balled this ). Once the holes were all cut & cleaned up, I lined the kick panel & inner surface of the pods w/BoomMat. The matt more than doubled the weight & made them feel much more solid. Then once all that was done, I rattle canned them, put them together, & plumbed the wiring for installation.....

Re: My 89 CC Dually: Double Wide
Nice progress on this one. Korbin bought an '84 CCLB C20 this past week for $900. 454/TH400. He spent $17 to repair a gas leak on the main line to the carb, through in a battery and has been driving it. The spid in the glove box does not match the VIN so no real idea what gears are in it. Did a little wire clean up on it this weekend to remove wires that the PO added for stuff that went to nothing. Fixed the speedo cable using the one from White Trash that I did not need. Now he just needs to decide what to do with it.
Do you have an extra bench seat lower frame by chance?
