Re: ol Curt Progress

Haha....agreed..worthless without pics!

I am coaching a high school soccer team and once that starts, all work on the truck ceases. Actually it has been so hot, don't know if I would have done much anyway. I have the front clip painted and am trying to finish the bed panels so I can paint the rest in on shooting. I'll send pics tonight.

Re: ol Curt Progress

Finally ready to get back on the truck. My son is home and we agreed to take the thing into the shop at work and try to finish the cab over the holiday break.

Some light bondo work, priming and painting. We haven't taken the front and rear glass out yet...hoping that won't expose too many problems!

I have been sidetracked with soccer and a new hobby...homebrewing!

Re: ol Curt Progress

I was sanding on my truck the other day and was thinking about you. I was going to give you $hit for not working on your truck. I hate sanding but it's not going to get done by it self. Least you got some help.

Re: ol Curt Progress

Made some progress yesterday. Got the windshield out and some of the top sanded. I had been sweating that windshield thinking that as bad as the rubber gasket was cracked there had to be some major rust under there. Heck, that was the cleanest part of the truck! I was pleased.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Re: ol Curt Progress

Hi Bob, Happy holidays! Good to see you working on ol Curt again,
I coached youth soccer for a few years and know how time consuming it can be.
It was sure fun but took a lot of weekends and evenings,
Well, kinda like 4-H and FAA is taking my spare time now.
Time spent helping kids is time VERY well spent,
We missed you here, stop in anytime.
Bubba

PS Daughter is still getting lots of recruitment mail from your University. Sure looks like a pretty campus

Oh sure...drive a stake thru my heart! My son was a lot of help, but he gets up at 11! I worked 7 days straight fro 8am to 6pm and every bone in my body aches!
It looks good from a galloping horse but areas I thought I had very slick weren't quite so after I cleared.

Re: ol Curt Progress

It takes a lot to get it to look like a show truck. If people knew it ahead of time I don't think so many people would be stripping it down to the metal. It's not a show truck is it? I know mines not. Looks good from my house.

"It's not a show truck is it?"

Heck yeah its a show truck...show it to the guy at the hardware store, lady in McDonalds, people at work when I drive it there!

My buddy has a gourgeous 72 that I tease him about. $50K truck that never goes any further than on and off the trailer.

Re: ol Curt Progress

Factory wheel. The horn ring is off a '66 Nova, which happened to be the same as the one used on the 66 custom cabs. I may go back to the original as I find when I am turning the wheel with one hand I have a tendency to bump the horn ring. I also put extra padding in the back portion of the seat. I'm short, so not a real big deal for me, but if I get in with a winter coat on, I am very capable of bumping the horn with my gut....but then again, it gets in the way often.

Re: ol Curt Progress

I also have a Hurst floor shifter in it now. I kept all the parts for the three on the tree in case I ever want to go back to original. The floor shifter is mucho better as far as drivability!

Re: ol Curt Progress

Ohhhh....about $800
I have a new front panel, but want to get a new tailgate and flooring. My grandpa was apparently pretty hard on tailgates! The side panels are just gonna have to have some waves in them. I am going to spend about a week on them and try to build me a LONG board sander to finish them up.

I figure everything left is $400...
1. Bedwood $400
2. Tailgate $400
3. Side trim molding $400

The thing is $400 me to death!

Re: ol Curt Progress

Waves? Got mud don't you. Habor freight sells cheap boards. It does take awhile. I'm still working on mine. I'm kinda scared to paint them. The more you look the more you see.

Re: ol Curt Progress

Was ready (I thought) to paint remaining pieces. Started to paint all of bed pieces...couldn't stand the look of the side panels, was going to run short on paint....blah blah blah
I ended up painting the tailgate, tubs and front bed panel. Going to put some more mud on the side panels or look for some patch panels.

Re: ol Curt Progress

sometimes less mud more sanding. sand till you hit metal then bang the metal down. maybe? Don't you wish you could just buy a new bedside.
