Re: 56 project

I put my wheels on Sunday and of course that led to needing to mod my bed sides. Needed to tub them 1 1/2", I also needed to make wheel spacers to clear my bag mounts. All the things you don't think about while building. Hoping to paint my tailgate and cowl vent tomorrow. I welded my vent by cutting the sections 1 at a time to keep it from warping. It worked out good just a little push down in the center and it fell right in. Still can't get my back window in, that flat glass is a pain. If I don't get it in tomorrow I'll cut one out of plexy and tint it for now. Wheels are Foose legend 20x10 and 18x7.

Re: 56 project

Thanks for the comments, means alot! Now I trying to figure out if I want to run a roll pan or bumper. I like the rollpan idea but I think it looks mismatched with the front bumper. I don;t know.

Re: 56 project

I found some old pics of my 49 that I sold 25 yrs ago. I found it while riding thru Nebraska 30 yrs ago. It was sitting on a farm, paid 1300. for it . Loaded my 49 pan in the back and drove it back to Wisc. I sold it when I moved to Fla. I wish I could find out if it's still running.

I HATE flames - but those look GREAT!! Understated, not taking up too much real estate, adding rather than detracting. What a great thread!

Re: 56 project

Again thanks everyone. Haven't updated in a while, I now have the bed frame built and the box is on for good! This week I'm trying to get my 1 peice windows to work smoother. Finish up some wireing for the compressor.and hopefully finish and paint my tailgate this weekend. I want to post some pics but I want to wait till my wheels come in next week. Also if you have any ? feel free to ask. I'm down to final assy and am running into things that I didn't think would effect the end result

Can you tell me how you shaved the cowl? Did you use two pieces of metal to get the curve or did you bend the metal and just use one piece?

Your truck looks great! What did those door handles come out of? They look really good and go well with the truck.

I would not have done 1/2 the things I did if it wasn't for you and this dam web site. Sleepless nights with my head spinning with ideas. Thanks for all the comments and ideas guys. I hope some of the things I've done will save some sleepness nights for others! Door handles are from a mitsubisti mirage
