Re: 1970 Longbed Build
I've got some work left to do. Right now the bed is resting on the fill. So the bed will sit about 1/2" lower. The coilovers are also all the way out, so I'll need to drop it some.
Also, if you're saying "wow, that was a lot of work for a disappointing payoff" - you're not alone. I'm thinking this will look a LOT better with a few turns out of the rear coilovers. Last edited by sighlurr; 11-16-2012 at 03:28 AM. |

Re: 1970 Longbed Build
I got the bed down on the frame and the coilovers are all the way out.
Not sure how much lower I'll need to go down, but I just ordered the spanner wrench from RideTech. |

Re: 1970 Longbed Build
I wasn't digging the hubcaps, so those went away. I should have a new set of wheels this Weds.
Started the bed fill fab. Needs a little more work. |

Re: 1970 Longbed Build
Hey Devin this is the look I'm going with. Cant go wrong with the copo caps. Just haven't decided whether to go with black or white on the wheel yet.

Yep, hands down my favorite longbed on this site. Hopefully I can get wheels mounted this Weds for some updated pics.
I don't think you can go wrong with black steel wheels with those caps. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1970 Longbed Build
Scratch that. I just received the new wheels - US Wheel chrome smoothies. They were listed as 5x5 5 bolt centers, but actually have a 10 bolt universal pattern. I was planning on running these with bullet lugs and no centers. But these are going back tomorrow.

Re: 1970 Longbed Build
Installed 2" front springs to complete the stance. Ended up being 4.5"/ 7" with the PB stage 2 kit with coilovers in the rear. 15x6" in the front with 225/75/15 and 15x7" in the back with 235/75/15.
What's next? Drive the crap out of it since it's riding season. Do a little here and there for paint and body, and figure out what motor goes in it. Finish the exhaust all the way out to the back of the bed through the CPP carrier crossmember. |

Time to get this thing cleaned up to move on down the road. I did what I wanted to with this one, leafs to coil, and a tradtional hot rod truck. Just picked up a '71 Cheyenne farm truck survivor, so that's next. |

Looks good, I've been following along because mine is a lwb leaf I want to convert also.
So its already on to the next, what happened to the swb frame, or is that going under the farm truck?

Re: 1970 Longbed Build
Truck looks good, I personally like the dog dish caps on these trucks. Have you considered full wheel covers like the c10kings truck "Gumby". Also do you still have the Coys? I'm trying to get my hands on a good used set and I could really use the ones that you had
