Re: Got a new truck
We made everything, the tabs are 1/2 or 5/8 think plate, the tabs didn't come out as well as possible because we aren't that great at communicating to each other. On the axle for the lower link tabs its just 2 tabs welded to the axle and We will put another piece across for side to side pressure. On the frame the two tabs are welded to another and will have a piece for side to side pressure. I will get pics tomarrow To explain it better.
We still have to make a truss for the upper links, That will get made some time this weekend. The shock hopefully we will get this week need money.

Re: Got a new truck
We got a truss made from some 1/4in flat stock, and the lower link bars welded up. The steel for the links 37in 2in dom 250 wall, was 79 bucks for 2 pieces and the flat stock we got for 5 bucks About 5 ft by 3 in and the rest we dropped off too get cut, hopefully they are open tomarrow if not we will get it monday, for the upper link mounts.
Tomorrow we will brace the frame some more, hopefully in 2 weeks we will go test it, Even though we haven't done the power steering yet.

Nice build. Do you think you'll get to wheel it before the rainy season?

Re: Got a new truck
We didn't box the frame yet, And we are going to gusset the truss somewhat. I might be able to wheel it, not hard just playing really, but it should have started raining last month so we will see. I really like wheeling in mud it seems funner, so it doesn't really matter.

Re: Got a new truck
Well, we didn't beat the rain it rained today, not really really hard but rained and seemed like a lot came down. I guess the shock i chose are the kind after you order they make. So another weeks 3 at the most. In the mean time we are going to start the motor build, a 383, got most the stuff, just need new bearings and lifters and put it in. Still deciding what its going in this or the black one. I'm pretty sure the black one, unless we get a bbc for it.

Re: Got a new truck
Well, i think I'm changing my mind again about the seats. I think i might get some leather seats out of a town car, might not. And pismo is coming soon, So we have to finish it soon.
I'm thinking of swapping the steering box this weekend, and getting new lines from the pump to box. And going full hydro later. I think we are also going to put the 4in on the front this weekend.

Re: Got a new truck
Well everything has slowed but should be ready to go be tested in 3 weeks. The shocks should be here next week, if not i will get different ones. Haven't put the power steering pump on but will this weekend for sure. And the passager seat will be in or mocked up. We moved into the garage by welding a bar from the axle to the back half. Ran great and is now out of the rain. So more progress to come.

Re: Got a new truck
Well we welded the fuel cell in, it has a steel metal case around the plastic cell so we tacked the top into where we wanted, and a bar across the bottom to help spread some weight. I will get pics tomorrow.

Re: Got a new truck
Well the fuel cell is in place and the hose is hooked up. We have yet to start it because are plans for today got switched, but we got some tools and a compressor. So it was for the better. We have decided to cut out both the seats and move the drivers in 4in to the center and 2in down, for safety and too make me feel a little safer. We might the center seat for the passenger side or use the other racing seat.
O and the light for if we ever need one in the back its in a little crooked.
