Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

my son, Michael, threw a tantrum and quit yesterday! it's just as well, he was a terrible employee! I've wanted to fire him for the last year, but haven't because he's my son! he was actually costing me money! so for the next few days I'll be moving stuff off the x's property. today we got the dipstick in, the intake manifold torqued, and some other odds and ends that needed to be done. only spent about 2 hours on it.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

so we discovered a problem yesterday, the hole that we had drilled and tapped was inaccessible when the pump was mounted ! so today we corrected that. a 1/8 pipe plug was put in the hole and a new hole was drilled and tapped on top.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

we also got the exhaust built back to the muffler. that's as far as we go until the bed's back on (for aesthetics) almost ready for initial start up! yesterday we discovered that the harness I had ordered was for a car manifold! luckily, I found one on LS1TECH!

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

here's what we've been doing the last few days. we made the upper radiator mounts and made all the battery cables, no crimps, only solder! it seems I ordered a harness for a car intake and injectors. so now we are waiting on the car intake to arrive for initial start up.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

we discovered that Alex had placed the motor several inches to far forward, at first I tried to compensate, but it became obvious after we got the accessories on, so we spent yesterday prepping the cab and driveline to move back. bummer, I know, but it's the only way to do it right!

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

today we repositioned the engine, I think I'm happy with it. tomorrow we'll make it permanent! I think I've been screwed on the intake! I sent him $400, he hasn't answered my email in 5 days. going to contact paypal tomorrow!

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

I finally sourced an LS1 intake (minus injectors and rails). Gonna require some creativity With belt routing, the idler pulley interferes With the throttle body.
This is the belt routing we need

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

I love them, I buy them in 100 packs on eBay for like $10. Saves tons of time over solder/heat shrink.

Skymangs, you make it sound simple, but all those wires intimidates me so much that I stay away from computer controlled engines.

Well done, and like I said before, I tip my hat to you.

don't worry, a lot of ppl are allergic to wiring. #1 symptom is a tingling sensation when you touch them.
