Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

Just got my parts from Justin yesterday! There was a slight miscommunication on some of the parts that I received, but Justin was very quick to get things straight and make sure the right parts are on there way. No one is perfect, but customer service goes a very long way, and they have great customer service. Highly recommend these guys! Hopefully see you in Charlotte to take you up on that little deal we made. Thanks again!

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

Im looking at drop spindles. I have a 71/72 front suspension on my 65 now. I really dont want to grind on my powder coated a-arms so would a modular spindle do me better than the traditional spindle? also would stock brakes work with the modular or would i have to go with something else? last question, would I still be able to use my 15" X 8" ralleys?

Thanks Justin,

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

Clyde65-

You'll want to go with the Old school/New school spindle. With the Modular spindle you'll need to run a 13" brake. Without the modular spindle, you can run your stock brakes. I'm sending a PM with pricing now..

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

I thought you had the option of stock or bigger brakes with the modular, and stock only with the old school/ new school.

That's the first time I've heard of that. I thought you had a choice.

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

I will verify that, but from what I know, you'll need to run the bigger brakes. Let me double check.

Just double checked with Justin and he reiterated that the Modular spindle is only designed to be run with the bigger brakes. It makes sense because the caliper bracket is the 2 bolt set up.

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

I've been wanting Modular Spindles since they were introduced. Now I'm hearing all these ifs, ands or buts (do they really not widen the stance more than 5/16" per side, you can't run dust shields and now you need to buy larger brakes). I'm getting more confused the more I here about them.

Here is a copy of a PM that I sent to CPPJEFF in Feb. 2010.

Thanks
Rich
Rich my first name is DISCOUNTS!! LMAO!! Yes you will still need the brackets with the 12" stuff and they are free with a purchase of spindles. Get a list together and i will help you out. Thanks

Re: CPP Drop Spindle Special

If there is a bracket that will allow you to run the stock brakes, I have never seen it. That doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, it just means that I need to call and find out exactly what the deal is. Unfortunately, everyone who knows anything is at SEMA right now. I'll have an answer Monday.

These should be the parts # that would allow you to run stock brakes.

Correct. I just got the same information, and if it's mentioned when the spindle is ordered, the bracket is free of charge.

Also, the track width does not change on 63-72 with the upgraded brake conversion, and it's also not changed on the 73-87 with stock brakes.

63-72 with stock brakes will push the track out 5/16 per side.
