Re: High School Project Build II
I'm jumping onboard this one, I really enjoyed reading through the first project. Shop class in schools is an important thing IMO. Being a small town kid myself our FFA shop classes and instructors taught us pretty well and kept us out of trouble. These kids are pretty fortunate to have this opportunity and it's something that they will remember for the rest of their lives. Keep up the great work, schools need more folks like you.

Re: High School Project Build II
Great build and kudos to you & what you do. I am sure we all have a teacher in our schoool years that made a difference/impact on our growing up. For me it was "auto mechanic" teacher, i enrolled in the class the first year. I had no asperations of this becoming my career choice, i simply enjoyed tinkering on cars and thought my buddy & i would get out of regular school classes. The teacher we drew was mr. Posey, he was one of those teachers that really went the extra mile. We both enrolled the following year for "auto mechanics ii". Once i graduated i followed other avenues for a few years but eventually ended back in the automotive field. My buddy has his own auto repair shop for years now. I own 1 shop and manage another. We often talk about how good of a teacher and man mr. Posey was and the impact he had on our life. Sorry, got a little winded there. Keep up good work and know to some of those kids you are making a difference in their future.
P.s. I also have several parts trucks and such...i bet if you run into some specifics parts you need, you send out a shout and i bet you will get your parts order filled between all the good folks on this site. |

Re: High School Project Build II
That Is what we are using - either cutting a cross first or just torching one end off first

Re: High School Project Build II
With a good air chisel and a sharp chisel bit, you can pop the heads off. Then switch to a punch bit and punch out the rest of the rivet by pushing it out. So much faster than cutting 2 lines in it IMO. Just becareful when those heads come off as they like to go flying!
