The only problem now is all the people doing internet searches for the PROBLEM CHILD Shifter Co. website!

Re: My '63 C10 "I'd rather be driving" Project

I went to a really cool car show today, Powerfest in downtown Brantford Ontario. There were lots of nice cars parked in the closed off streets, and a display of race cars in a square. The highlight was when they fired up some of the racers, including the Paton Racing Top Fuel dragster. Todd Paton drives it, and they race at some NHRA national events in the US. The team has been based in nearby Paris Ontario for many years. Todd's dad & team owner, Barry Paton raced funny cars in the 70's & '80's.

There were three 60-66 C10's in attendance. I spoke to the owner of the red '62. He got rid of the torsion bars, and swapped in front suspension and rear axle from a 1986 C10. All three trucks were very nice.

Johnny, not checked in much recently so catching up bit, fantastic job on the shifter, real craftsmanship. Cool name too (but seeing as Brian Johnson is from Dunston, about 6 miles from me I would say that )

Great pictures too, love the stepper ( but I suppose I would say that too! Damn I'm getting so predictable in my old age )

Thanks Ian. I didn't realize until now that Brian Johnson is English. I did a little reading and see that he fronted the "Geordies" before getting the ACDC gig. I then had to google to find out what a Geordie is. The things you learn on this forum...

Yep, no problem. For a just a local car show, the cars in attendance seemed really nice. Here's another pic of the stepper...

I saw that stepper at the show at Bennett's a week or two ago. I liked his engine bay, especially the hold downs for his battery cover.

Looks like a nice show. It has amazed me at the quality of vehicles at the local shows this year.

Hold downs are Baccardi Rum purgers, I had two of them, gave them to friends, forget who got them.

Nice touch though.

Re: My '63 C10 "I'd rather be driving" Project

Hey Guys, my very busy but fun weekend.

Friday some friends and I went to the local Dirt Track, Ohsweken Speedway, to watch Sprint Cars. Saturday, I had the car show, Brantford Powerfest. On Sunday, I drove my C10 an hour and a half each way to St Thomas Raceway Park to watch nostalgia drag racing. My buddy Irv came with me, as the SB Ford in his Prefect was awaiting re-assembly. I had lots of fun, for sure.

Then came a sobering reminder that we need to make our vehicles as safe as possible...

When I got home, I heard of a tragic accident not too far away involving a '48 Chevy. All three occupants of the Chevy were killed. The car blew a rear tire, causing it to turn left, resulting in it getting t-boned by a tour bus going the same direction. The '48 burst into flames, then rolled into the ditch. Bystanders were able to get two occupants out of the car, but weren't able to get to the third because of the fire.

I have to wonder...
1) Why do people feel the need to videotape and post tragic crashes involving fatalities on the internet? I feel bad for the families involved.

2) What was the condition of the vehicle, as I can't tell from the pics. Was it restored... Pro Street... a Rat Rod? I really hope the car was safe.

Here's a link to the news and a pic: https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/201...ghway-407.html

Re: My '63 C10 "I'd rather be driving" Project

Sounds like a fun filled weekend!!!
That really sucks about the accident to bad they all died. They where in the slow lane, probably out for a Sunday drive. We will never get them as safe as a new car, but we can keep them in good running order and stay focused when we drive.
