72 Jimmy "Colonel Mustard"
This is the day that it was delivered.
![]() Had some fun driving it for a few years while we were building my son's 86 K-5 ![]() His is very close to finished, so I figured it was time to start my build. My plans are: Frame off resto Rust repair Powdercoat frame, axles etc. Install a 6.0l/4l80E from a 2004 chevy 2500 donor Rebuild transfer case Rebuild diffs Recover and install seats from 2004 truck Bodywork and repaint with a fresh coat of OCHRE Vintage or similar A/C system Dakota Gauges I've been checking this site out and there is an incredible amount of info and parts resources. My son and I had a lot of fun on his build and I'm really looking forward to getting mine going. Hopefully I can fund it. ** Here is how it sits now. ![]() ** ![]() |

Re: 72 Jimmy "Colonel Mustard"
Thanks for the welcome. There are some incredible builds on here. I have been trying to read up on as many as I can, picking and choosing things that I would like to add to my build. I'm hoping that mistakes I made and lessons learned from my sons build along with build threads here, I can make mine go a lot smoother.

Re: 72 Jimmy "Colonel Mustard"
I ordered my sheet metal from Wes @ Classic Heartbeat. He was extremely knowledgeable on everything K-5 and great to deal with. He got me set up with fenders, doors, rockers, rocker boxes, bedsides, end caps, A & B pillar bottoms, rear wheel wells and a few other things.
Delivered to Vintage Metalworks: ![]() ** ![]() |

If things went well I would like to have it ready for paint by the end of the summer. But they never go as planned. |
