Hey RCbowtie, Yes had a great Christmas and hope you and your family did as well. No, I haven't worked on the roof yet. I have completed the right front of the cab and about finished the left front. Then I will work the cab corners & rockers. I'll post a few pics of current progress shortly.

Thanks!

Very nice work Justin. Looks like your welding skills have come along nicely! I just read through your thread. I saw where you where thinking about doing the side marker gas fill. Did I miss a post? Where did you end up? I am at that point on mine. Considering all options but leaning towards the taillight (flip up). Keep up the great (and fun) work.

Hey Rex, thanks for the kind words! Yes, I was thinking of marker fill, but decided to go with the bed side fill. I had reservations on if the marker Opening would have been large enough to easly get my hand in and out of. For mine, I've cut a fuel door/pocket from a doner truck to weld in the side of my bed and will require the fuel neck to be boxed in inside the bed. It is more work than some options but I believe will be worth it every time I fill up. I'm sure which ever option you chose, you will be very satisfied with.

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB

Well...it has been long overdue for getting back to work on the truck. Was able to start again this weekend and finished up the front floor pans, A-pillars, cab supports & kick panels. Next up is the cab corners, rear supports & B-pillars. Will get pics of progress.

Thanks,

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB

Had to wait on cab corners as I didn't have all the necessary patch panels on hand. Started removing the roof panel from the donor top I scored at the pick-n-pull. Was able to get top of by drilling spot welds and cut below the rear roof panel seam. Once removed, I removed all the surface rust I could and then prepped the interior side with the same Eastwood rust/metal treatment I used on the frame.

Will post more pics of the treated panel, before of rusted roof and progress of panel replacement.

Thanks,

Nice work on the roof skin.

I have the same job to do on my stepside plus the inner skin as well. Not looking forward to it.

Thanks 67cheby, I was worried if I was going to be able to remove it without damage. Was a little easier than I expected. Still nervous about the installation though.

Thanks Mike, your sooo right! went through several drill bits, but still cheaper than a new panel.

Below is the roof panel prepped on the under side to help prevent any future rusting. Also made some progress on removing the rusted roof material. She was able to catch me in a few shots
