Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Sounds really good.

Does the rod that the flaps on your scoop mount to rattle when the engines running? I have the same scoop and mine rattles a lot at idle and can get a little annoying. I think I need to find some kind of plastic bushing to put in the holes of the scoop body and run the rod through them.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Mine came with washers to keep it in line. I don't have anything to connect the flapper to the carb, what did you use? It's about 3" wider than the carb linkage do I don't know if you run a rod at an angle or space it out. And pics of your linkage? Get some washers mine doesn't rattle at all

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Mine came with washers but I guess they weren't enough. I'll try adding more to see iff it helps . For the linkage I just used a piece of brass rod and some collars. It's extremely budget but it works. Heres the best pic I can find for now, I'll get some better ones later.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

So I spent 14 hours yesterday working on this thing. I am beyond exhausted. I am bringing the truck home next week. I have to wait still for the driveshaft. Still need to install the air management and compressor, and weld in the shock mounts. Honestly I have a wedding coming up in a few months and I need to put all my money in that. At least all the hard stuff is done. It will look good in my driveway for a few months then it will be out on the streets causing trouble. If I sell all my stuff on craigslist it will happen even sooner!
This is just PPG primer FYI. There is still more body work left but for now, it looks good and is sealed from the elements. Once driving I will take it to my buddies professional shop and me and him will give it the councours approval of blocking and filler work. Then it will be laid out in nice even flat black. In some of these pics the paint is still wet so the sheen is off. AT 1 AM I just wanted to leave!!!!!!!!

I will mount these properly next week

it has a nice sheen for primer

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Looking good. I remember when my van looked like that. Now after all these years in the sun it's faded to a chalky grey because we never put a sealer on it.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

I need a better camera. The sun was setting and I was out of light.
Beginning of the afternoon it at least gives a shot of the sheen of the flat black primer

Doors, hardware, hood all put back on. I really need to put the white walls on and the chrome smoothies to break up the black. THERE IS A LOT OF BLACK!!!!!!!!

Truck is on the trailer and is coming home. I will be doing a few odds and ends and then take it to the exhaust shop and transmission shop to fine tune the kickdown cable.
