Nice project! I'm a big fan of the six speed. Looking forward to more updates.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
I took a break for a bit, but I am back on the body work in preparation for paint. After spending many hours on the fenders and hood I decided to scrap the GMC and go with the 67 Chevy front clip. I finally got my 9 yrs old son away from his PS3 and helping with the sand blasting. He is doing a great job... I will be media blasting the bed this weekend and will update with pictures. Still haven't decided on a color. The two hardest parts of the build for me have been wheel/tires and paint choice.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
Looks like you are doing a good job training your boy. Start them out early in the garage. Keep gathering the parts, it looks like you have it all there. I hear you on the wheels and paint, I have a plan for my paint, gonna wait till the last minute on the wheels.

Choosing wheels, tires and paint color plagues us all. Have you picked a color yet?

Also, if you want to run a bench with the t56 you can - I did. You just have to find a shifter that is bent right. I happened across a factory '68 b-body mopar shifter and it worked perfectly. I raised it 1" tho. Again, nice work. You're going to love it. |

Working on the bed now. Soda blasting is complete. I would not recommend doing this in front of your house like I did.

Love your truck. I am sure that you already know this but in case you didnt you have to neutralize the soda before you prime it or you will most likely have it come back and bite you. Barry at Southern Polyurethane will tell you all about it. Looking good

The bed....... Initially, I had planned on only removing the right side of the bed for a replacement. After removing part of the bed I found out it was really easy and better to disassemble the complete bed in preparation for paint. Most of the carriage bolts I had to weld strips of metal on the heads to stop them from turning. I was also able to get into every crack and crevice to remove old paint & grime.
