Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"

What a great weekend. All of you guys know whats its like to dream up a project and look forward to the day you get to turn it over for the first time.

Tunner came over Saturday night and had it fired up on Sunday morning This thing is LOUD Current package is a 2007 LY5 5.3 with CAM Headers, no CATS and flowmaster 10's.Once i get her running i will take it down there for the full on chassis dyno #'s.

Sticking with the theme of get it running and daily driver- i laid down a very expensive coat of Rustoleom. But hey what the heck it look killr.

Who is your tuner and where is the shop/dyno? I'll probably need to tune my LQ9 in the Blazer once its running... Can the dyno handle 35" Toyo MTs??

Awesome work brother... Seeing projects like this, with just a cab on the deck with rails and wheels, makes me giddy. Haha.

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"

Sorry guys, lots of progress and just as many setbacks. I was battling a HUGE issue with the brakes. I could pump them up and get a pedal but once i released it, the pedal would go to the floor again. In the end it came down to adjusting the rear calipers so the pads were closer to the rotors

(HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE MCGAUGHY'S BRAKES???)

Mine work now but i don't have good stopping power until the pedal is about 3/4 the way down. I want to fix this as i want this to be a cozy daily driver.. Mine is the Big Brake Kit 13" rotors and the rear calipers are from a cadillac. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"

Now for some updated pics. I am far from done but this is her current state. As you know this is my first frame up build, so there are many things beyond my current abilities. I had Zack with Airth Defined here in town do my bed.

I wanted to continue my theme with the truck so there are currently two locked/hidden compartments and i plan on one or two more. I like using the hidden spaces under the raised bed for storage. Both are locked.

The front end shots are the cats meow. I like the use of space you engineered into your raised bed. Nice work!

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"

I am huge on wanting plenty of lighting. So after i found this article the choice for me was easy. Both of the second options are very expensive but if you are gonna drive daily i think lights are worth the money. I went with the Truck-lite lights. i got them on sale (BLACK FRIDAY SALE) and pulled the trigger. These from the test proved the be the brightest.

Many people also use these on Jeep wranglers.

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"

Heres some more detail on the direction i am going with the bed. I plan on using "Wenge" it is a very dense wood, and is considered an exotic wood. It can stand the test of time and should work perfectly since i will be using the truck bed.

I also will be incorporating Tie-downs into the bed..they will not be ontop of the bed rails like most trucks these days but rather hidden into the wooden floor and side of sheet metal.

Truck looks awesome. Please comment on the led headlamp install when you're done, as I'll be doing the same just after Xmas.

Congrats on getting her on the street.

No problem, did you order the "non-flicker" module? the jeep clamp will have to be cut and a 3 prong spliced on. Ill let you know how they look and stack up against the stock ones.

wow, your truck turned out nice.if you are still having braking issues you may want to give Mcgauheys a call. could possibly be your bore size of master?I went thru this with a car that had a upgraded brake set up. good luck. and congrats.will definitely be a nice driver when you get the bugs worked out.

I went with the newest MC from CPP it has the built in proportioning valve and i spent weeks working with them I have the largest Bore they offer 1 1/4". And i have also been in contact with Mcgaughy's from what i hear a lot of people have issues with the rear disk brakes from McGaughy's that are from the cadillac model. (ability to hook up parking brake) and thats what i have. Ill keep ya posted.

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"

small update on the lights, the stock sealed headlight hardware fits these lights I cleaned them up and layd down some black and test fit everything together. I went to switch out my ignition switch and ended up braking the cylinder lock so i am once again awaiting the brown truck. Once i get that installed ill show how they turned out with pics.

I also decided to go with the Spectre Performance Air intake. I like the start of the look under the hood..
