Thanks Joehoh. As my grandfather would say, "I'm still kicking, just not high!"

Re: '50 3600 re-do. Shortening things up!

Well, thing’s didn’t go exactly as planned. Didn’t get to start it up. I spent hours trying to find the intake bolts and fuel pressure gauge. I hate it when I put up stuff for easy access only to forget where that was!! 🤔🤔 I stumbled across them tonight in the very last place I thought to look! Also ran into an issue with the Powermaster mini starter. This one was clockable but I had to rotate it 180 degrees to clear the exhaust manifold placing the electrical connectors on the backside rendering them inaccessible. The gear wouldn’t disengage from the flywheel 100% of the time so I’m gonna send it back for something else.

It wasn’t a complete waste of time though. I did get the engine to prime so I’m glad about that. Will try again this weekend. Fingers crossed!

Re: '50 3600 re-do. Shortening things up!

Still working to get the engine started. Got the replacement started installed and it works fine. Ran into an issue with the fuel pump supplied with the kit. It only puts out about 20 psi. Contacted tech support & the said it should be closer to 70 and that I was going to need a regulator to get it to around 58. They're sending me a new pump & I'll go ahead and install a regulator.

Someone else warned that it was going to nickel & dime me to death and that's proving to be true!! But, on the flip side, hopefully i can get all the bugs now. If not, I'll sell the Fitech and get a Sniper.

Re: '50 3600 re-do. Shortening things up!

My grandson explaining the finer points of the LS! Lol! He loves asking me about all things automotive!

Decided to swap the stick valve covers. Never really liked the tall oil filler on the stock one and I think the splash of orange is a nice touch. Also just got my trans in from Jegs. With with a 4L70 rated for 500hp so it should match the output of the engine.

Re: '50 3600 re-do. Shortening things up!

Ma intent was to finish up the firewall before installing the engine, but my son had a weekend off & wanted to lend a hand, so we sat the engine in. Wasn’t sure if I was going to have to install a trans tunnel but I’ve got clearance. The only issue I see so far is that the ac idler hits one of the lines on the rack.

I had an enjoyable afternoon going through your build and it is looking great! Thanks for sharing.

I used the same accessory drive on the 48 Burb and am pleased with how it fits.

Re: '50 3600 re-do. Shortening things up!

just had time to watch your fire up on the engine stand. fee-oof, that brought back memories of a buddy whose engine did a rotation and fell on the floor. I seen yours start to do that but you realised what was gonna happen and resisted the urge to blip the throttle a little more. always good when things fire right up. awesome.
nice looking project.

Thanks Joedoh! I really like it too! I found out too late that I could have saved some $$$ by just buying the Holley water pump and then buying the accessories from other sources! There's a couple of youtube vids that list the part numbers.

Luckily I had stuck a screw driver in the hole for the lock pin that was way to small. It wasn't going anywhere but it sure did get my attention!!! Lol!
