Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
I need to take pics of my fuel and brake line routing. I think they both came out pretty cool! I wanted to throw new outer axle bearings and seals in and was going to just put a chrome cover on the back. Instead I took the cheap-ass route and blasted the stock one down to bare metal, painted it brown with a rattle can to somewhat match the truck and threw some striping on it. I think it looks cool!

That cover is awesome. It would probably be the highlight of my truck.....

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Brake stuff! I love wrecking yards and being able to do the "junkyard crawl"! It's amazing what you can find when you walk around with a game plan and just look for stuff. I needed to move my rear brake housing mount over after the way I did the exhaust put it in the way. I looked under different trucks trying to find a frame mount for the rear line that was a bolt on bracket and grabbed one from a late 90's Ford f250 ( I know, I'm ashamed!)

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Back in '81, Hot Rod Magazine did an article on a truck built by a guy named Greg Fleury. This truck was my reason for falling for the AD style trucks! What I really liked about the truck was it's 5" chop

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Naah... Lots of flattening agent and a little creativity and it will still look old! That was kinda my dilemma with the whole thing too. I'll make it work.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
you could just break the paint at the body line and go with a cream top or something of the sort

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
I also do not like the chopped look on this model truck, unles you plan on sectioning the body also. it just looks out of proportion to me

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
I was looking out my windows last night for torches and a lynching party! OK, bad idea on my part. I still like the chop thing, but didn't know if it would ruin the vibe on the style of this look. I guess I'll leave it alone, finish it up and drive it for awhile! The votes are in, I got my ass kicked, so I'll stay on the path I originally started! Thanks for being honest guys!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
They weren't quite so diplomatic over on The HAMB though
![]() I have read this thread about 10 times, just waiting and planning my build, you lettering and striping amazing. And you nailed the stance. Can't wait to see it all back together. Would look pretty cool with some metalflake somewhere like a cream or tank "root beer" look.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Here's a question... Since I lowered the seat so far down, the sun visors are waaaay up there. Anybody ever done anything different to make them swing down farther/lower when you use them? I hate looking into the sun! Any ideas?

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Got the fuel tank in and all bolted up. If you look closely, you can see that there are 2 lines coming out of the fuel tank.
