Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....
My clutch linkage was WAY worn out !!!
All the ends of the rods had worn almost completely thru..and the holes were ob-long. I checked my master-cylinder push-rod, and it will adjust out fine. I working on getting all the slack out of the rods now..... Pics soon.... John

So are you saying there is something wrong with the Aluminum ??? I never heard of bad billet before ??? It's just a battery hold-down anyway, I don't care who made it because I think it looks damn cool for that price, especially with my GM logo over the top of their's !!! |

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....
Well, in my opinion, APC is found on every car I've ever seen that's been half-assed.
Are you sure its even real billet? I'd be careful what they tell you. The company has a bad rep, and their cheap low quality parts only appeal to people who wish they could star in the next "Fast and the Furious" movie. I mean sure, if it looks good, go for it. It's your truck anyways, and do what you want and like for it. Just please, don't put a big APC logo across your back window. You might as well by one of those boomerang things that you see on the back of limos, and put that on your roof. |

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....
On the engine harness...I relocated the temp sender to the rear of the intake, this helps hide the wires...
- - - I should of welded up the huge hole in the firewall too...and ran my taillights elsewhere....DAM IT !!!!...I forgot to order that grommet.... - - - As for the front harness....I drilled a 1" hole, used a grommet, and ran the harness thru/under the fender well and to the front. These harness were cheap, and even came with all the harness fasteners in the correct locations (which I didn't use). I split open the loom, and just used the headlight & horn wires, and removed the alternator/regulator wiring....I DON'T NEED THAT ALT/REG CIRCUIT...CAME WITH ALL NEW PLUGS AND ALL...IT YOURS FREE !! Anyone need it ?? - - - -

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....
Here's a couple shots of my 'Ghetto' exhaust.......
What I did here is I used the u-bends that I showed earlier...to come off the engine....but then I needed some straight pieces. Sooooo instead of purchasing some 'exhaust' pipe from a muffler shop, I just used some 2" round tubing I had in stock......ghetto...but Heavy duty though !!! - - - At least it matches my under-carriage !!!! - These are some 2-chambers I had laying around...I promised them to my wife's cousin for his 69 C-10, but he never came to get them..... - These tail-pipes came off an F-150 that I had ripped out for a 4-link/air-ride job (I told the wife, this is why I save this stuff..I'll end up using it some day..10yrs later ) - - - MIsc: I had to extend my pet-cock a little because it was fitting thru the hole correctly... -

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....
- - - - Chief Rocka, I was hoping you could answer a few questions for me on the wiring. I have the wiring diagram for reference and I am an Electrician by trade so I may be able to follow along. But car wiring is new to me, so I need a little help. And since you have done what I want to do I figured you would be the man to ask. 1. In one of your post I read that you split the loom open and just used the headlight and horn wiring. Was it just one wire you ripped out (the brown I believe)? Or was it more than just one? It would have been the one(s) that went to the regulator. If you know, was that wire meant to go to the amp meter or warning light? 2. In the above picture you have 3 relays. Just to clarify, one is for horn, one is for headlights. Another is for brights? Or is it one for each headlight? (I assume one is for brights, but I want to make sure you run 2 lights of one relay.) 3. Now on to relays. It is my understanding that relays drive there power from the battery. Also, in the loom there is a 12 gauge red that runs from the battery as well. Could you come from the battery too the first relay, too the second, and too the third and then out the last relay to the wire in the loom? Or should I run 2 wires of the battery, one for the loom and one for the relays? 4. Where did you hide your horn? Did you leave it in the stock location or hide it under the covers as well? Thanks for the time. Chris |

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....
Since I am running the high amp one-wire alternator, I deleted that wire, and only ran the headlight and horn wires along the fender well to the relays. Instead of the light, I am running the amp guage.
That is correct one for low beams, one for high beams, and one for the horn. You can, but I would run a 10 guage...that would guarantee a safe flow of power to your lights and horn. My horn is actually mounted under the radiator, behind the bumper. The PO had installled a cheap air-horn, so I just cleaned it up, rebuilt the pump and decided to keep using it. Hope this helps !! Gonna be SICK !!! It takes time man...but in the end you'll be happy with the outcome !!! John
