Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
I read this whole just now after not looking at it since I read the first post. Sorry, I just had to chuckle. I hope the young man get's his hands on the truck one way or another. I'd sure like him to get him self a job, SCHRUMGMC have you considered working in a car dealership? Is there one close to you? If you like cars and can stay motivated and work hard there is a lot of room for advancement at a new car store. You should check it out if there's a store near you. Lot porter, detail labor, parts runner. Lots of things you could do and be around cars all day. I'm biased but, just sayin.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Good idea! At least we'll all know that a wise old man will buy it and be able to afford to fix it up. Kudos to you sir for that and also keeping a classic on the road!

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
I put the Deposit down and am getting it Saturday morning with a hauler )))
I have big plans for this truck, and for one I can't wait to get it running and then Drive it, and keep it forever.. I don't appreciate the smart comments from some members, and Melita you told me through PM you wouldn't do such a thing I'm going to put a transmission into it..I need a Ignition starter,Belt, new spark plugs and of course a transmission I am beyond excited to finally own one of these old truck..Thanks for the wishes and God bless everyone on this Tuesday Night I may be a young kid, but at least I respect old trucks and am interested in learning about them and fixing them up.

Thanks for editing out your comment "asking members for donations".

Your version of not asking?
If you want to make donations make it too *Although I am not asking at all, I appreciate the help* I'm turning this over to the Admins and unsubscribing,... Have a nice day.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
I swear non sense Drama starts..I deleted it because I had remembered your PM and wanted to respect it..I'd appreciate it if you'd delete my personal information. Thanks
Anyway when I put the $100 deposit down, I locked myself in on owning this awesome truck.Question with the side markers why are they not the Longer split ones were those Special Option or so ??? A big question how do I replace the old Metal bed, near the wheel wells it is rusted through..Also for the Glove box, what does the Parts place sell..I believe the ones that were original were Cardboard ????

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
I edited out your info.. please respect the rules from here on out. Most times drama is self inflicted. I know you are eager etc.. but take time to look at the entire situation from someone elses view. Good luck going forward with the new truck.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Alright thanks Liz
Apologies to anyone I barked at What size socket do you need to take the cowl off ? I'd like to make sure the Cowl hasn't rusted away Whats weird on this truck, is that there is no real surface rust except part of the bed and rocker panels

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Will do..Someone remind me to take photos of the truck on the hauler..I always forget
It won't be a perfect truck when I do get it running, but it will look cleaner and actually drive

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Congrats SCHRUMGMC! We'll have to exchange some pictures of our GMC trucks someday, I was shocked when I saw yours, that even though we're on other ends of the country, the previous owners of our trucks must have been brothers.
Mines White top over Blue too, was found beached (not running) with tons of dirt, rodents, etc. and crappy Camper, Coaster mirrors, BUT, mine had a huge Visor. Have Fun!

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Thats crazy man as you go to my Profile you will see my pawpaws 1971 gmc that I had been looking for.I love the white top and blue body(mainly because of my pawpaws truck) but I can't wait to get this truck home and clean it up..I'll post the truck when it gets here and all of its dirt and filth on it then I am going to clean it like never before..I may have to take off the cowl to clean leaves and sticks out ...sure hope its not rusted through..it would be a pain in the arse...but anyway man I got a question the rockers on this truck are bad should I go ahead and just knock them on the ground or wait til I can put new ones on ?
Plus the owners have said they can't find the door keys for the Doors...I would of figured the Ignition key would of fit the keys...Hmmmm
