My 1967 Build (Finally)

Peeling back the rusty driver's side corner of the windshield and all of the drip rail on that side. A gentleman on the 67-72 facebook group donated to me these windshield corner pieces as mine were pretty crunchy and worth replacing while Im there.

One interesting thing to note... the 67 C10s and the 68-72 C10s have a different body line surrounding the windshield.. you can see the gap. I pounded down the gap and welded in.

also, Happy Thanksgiving! We grilled up some venison kabobs with some onions and green peppers.. all home grown.. it was a great day.

Welding in driver side inner roof patch panel, and test fitting the drip rail repair panel.

Getting the front upper windshield bow installed... had to cut it down the middle the long way to help it fit properly with the windshield gasket, and installed the gasket about a million times... test fit the roof panel to make sure its all lining up good, so far so good.

Drip rail fitment... seen a lot of people complain that they are not made properly, but I didnt seem to have any problem. Ive had much worse panels and pieces before.

You are really talented, luckily my build didn't require such an involved tear down. You certainly have your work cut out, but your skill set is obviously high enough that you seem to be tackling all of this with ease! I am enjoying your posts.

SLOW season is upon us (me). I hurt my back pretty bad, not quite sure how. So here's some pics of progress I've made. I finished installing the brow, and repairing the inner roof structure and above windshield. i then went ahead and wire wheeled everything, and use a media disc to remove deep rust and the adhesive for the fiber board in the roof. Once that was rather clean, I went after it with some phosphoric acid to get into the deep pits of rust and help keep those from continuing to eat. I will POR-15 the inner roof area, but first I went after any joints or pinch areas with rust encapsulator to stop the rust there as well, and seam sealed with SEM, and top coated with the Eastwood rust encapsulator. Once the temp gets higher than 50 in the garage I will POR-15, do a final seal if needed, and install a sound deadener (Kilmat 80mil).

Almost completely forgot about doing this one. Had to split the upper bow in two, long ways, and reshape the body line as shown. The issue was the windshield gasket would bunch up and not seat properly at the upper bow was too 'tall' and didn't set the gasket depth where it needed to be.

POR15 laid down. I used semi-gloss, this photo is right after I did it, still wet.
Going to wait a day or so and lay down the Kilmat I have!

Sound deadened the roof. This is 80mil Kiltmat, and it came out pretty good. Had to use a heat gun as its about 60 in my garage, a cold 60.

* yes, I know a little of sound deadening pad goes a long way, but I had this material, and keep in mind the roof skin will be permanently fixed in place, so there would be no going back to add. To go this far and fall short would make me not so happy! I do really like the way it came out.

Some inner cab work - I am a huge fan of the Eastwood rust encapsulator and internal frame coating. This internal frame stuff does NOT come off unless sanded off, not even if you dunk it in acetone (tried to get off a spilled area, no luck). I used the internal frame coating for the rear inner wall of the cab, as it was pretty surface rusty. Used some lights and air techniques to evenly distribute for full coverage and it came out well. It advertises it will "creep" into hard to rear places and I gotta say, it sure does. Looking at some of the pinch weld seams for the door seal, I can see it worked its way between the panels which is great. It is a mess though, so be ready to clean up any areas you dont want it and mask well before applying.

I then did the inside of the firewall, wire wheel'd and 220'd everything, and hit with the rust encapsulator. I then went after it with some SEM 1k seam sealer, which is my favorite, works very well. I typically give it a few hours, and hit it with some of the rust encapsulator again to seal up the seam sealer, as it will attract and grab onto dirts and such even after its dried.

The temps have been much better lately... in the 60s! So Ive been knocking out some odds and ends for paint match stuff. These kick panels came out well.

Dash prep begins... washed the dash off with some gray scotchbrite pads and cleaned all the contact points to the cab, sealed with some rust encapsulator. Now to decide if I want to clear coat the inside of the dash or put something else inside it. I will be coating the outside with a semi gloss clear.

Just got word my bench seat is all complete. Man am I stoked!! It came out great. The vinyl is matched to the factory color keyed sunvisor. And the inserts are a NOS from long ago!! Really helps me get motivated to push harder.

Thank you all! Ive been on this board for a while, and creeped without a profile for years before that. Always watched build threads and thought "man. I'd love to have my own build thread worth sharing." So to have all the compliments I've had from yall and other members really means a ton!!

Rear speaker brackets are fitted, was having some issues figuring out how to fasten them into place at the top with my hidden bracket, as I cant fit two hands in there when installing them... then I thought, why not use the j-nuts from the wheel wells? They work great. I may place a small spot weld to keep them from rolling/moving when placing everything. Installed the actual speakers, Infinity Kappa 6.5s, now I need to get a grille to clean them up some. We will see!
