That's actually a K1500 full size. It's pretty bad ass.

The last pic was taken after we recovered the Blazer from almost flopping on the right side when the edge of the trail gave way under us. My lev-o-gauge on the dash I use to level out for setting up the camper pegged out at 45 degrees and settled back to only 30 degrees. Thank goodness for my buddy Bill in the Power Wagon being with us. He winched the truck to safety and continued on the rest of White Rim. Between myself, my son and Bill we were a little pre-occupied to take pics before or during the extraction.

That was the easy stuff too..

Re: Random pictures you took of your K

Now that I seen it on my laptop I can see it’s an earlier GMT 400. From my phone it looked like a late second Gen S10. Still a bad looking truck either way. Looks like a great time.

Re: Random pictures you took of your K

I subscribed to P-bucket and stole some of my pictures back. I still am subscribed. I saved back to my folders. Let's see if they stay after I drop the subscription. The unrestored '72 I rebuilt mechanically. sold to a friend who, hopefully sometime in our lives, is going to restore it. I wish I could have kept it

I love that truck Tim. Woulda been hard to let it go. I took this one of my truck hauling heavy lol. Took my kids to our paved church parking lot to run digger around. My boy loves it, took him about 10 minutes to start jumping it off the sidewalk haha.

It was hard, but times were tough at the time. I actually had the white '72 K2500 for sale but everyone wanted that blue & white truck. My good friend who has done more favors for me than anyone handed me a load of cash and said the rest will come by the weekend when a car he sold gets paid for and picked up. I was just in his shop yesterday looking at the rolling chassis. The body has been restored and all painted and sitting at the body shop down the road for years, many years. I stopped asking. The shop owner must have plenty of room and he doesn't care. I'd think he sold it and just can't tell me but he has the chassis. He keeps plenty of irons in the fire but he gets things done... except for the old truck. He even built a '70 K/20 with original paint and K/30 running gear recently.

I remember taking my kids to "pavement" to enjoy their various rides. No sidewalks in my neighborhood. Actually, there's no neighborhood, it's country! You already sais it, but I'm sure your son had a ball

Re: Random pictures you took of your K

Today I put on 35x12.50 Toyo muds on stock wheels at stock height believe it or not. I’ve read that you can shove 37’s under the current HD trucks with a leveling kit. Pretty crazy to think…

Re: Random pictures you took of your K

Murphy Hogback campsite on the White Rim trail. The only thing that sucked was the heat.

Same spot a few hours later as it was still to hot to comfortably sleep inside the truck.

To give the shortest synopsis of the trip, here we go in three pics.

Driving over through the Eisenhower tunnel on our way to Moab.

The aftermath of the Steelbender trail. Stock skidplates do not support the weight of a 7,000-pound tank when you belly out on a ledge.

Going back through the tunnel on the way home...

No 205 for me. The 241 has been fine with the torque of the 8.1 and my more aggressive throttle antics with the 5.3 in front of it. But the egg-shell aluminum case is the weakness.

A 205 would cure that issue, but so would a properly supported (on both ends) skid plate.

For the strength I'd gain, I'd lose gear reduction. Right now with the 6.34:1 low gear in my nv4500 the 2.72:1 in the 241 and my 4.1 gears I have a 70:1 crawl ratio. If I went to a 205, the 1.96:1 low range would drop me to 50:1 in low/low. The only way to get the gearing back would be to put a ORD Magnum box in front of the 205, which uses the same planetary gearset as the 241. Sure I'd have the added bonus of going low/low/low and get almost 140:1 but I don't need to go that deep, nor do I have the funds to go that way.

Speaking of cost, price out a round pattern 205 with the 32 spline input IF you can find one. Plus I'd have to find a 90-91 to get the VSS output or buy more goodies to convert one from mechancial speedo to VSS. I won't bring up using a AA kit to adapt a figure 8 pattern 205 to my nv4500. Besides more cost I'm not chopping the output shaft of my freshly rebuilt trans to facilitate that mess.

The 241 is getting treated to a full rebuild kit of bearings/seals and a Tom Woods SYE to rid the t-case of the slip yoke setup. That and installing a spare rear housing I have stashed in the garage.

My 69 K/30!! I know GM never made a K/30 until 1977 but this started life as a 69 C/30 longhorn and was shortened 18” then converted to a 4X4 and was fitted with a Dana 60 front And a 14 bolt rear out of a 81 K/30 so it is 4X4 which is a K model and is a C/30 series so combined it’s a K/30 lol
