Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
I went to the Kdays event with my little girl (4yrs old). We were the first in line for opening the boxes. We got there at 8am and the manager let her open a box then. She pulled out two green silverados, a batman car and two montes. They only let her have 5 at one time. It was really cool that she let her open the box early and let her pick them out. She also gave her a poster with a F100 modified truck. My daughter had a huge smile on her face. I went back later that day with my oldest daughter (7yrs old). She wanted to find the pink challenger. We walked away with several silverados , challengers, vettes and montes. It was a huge score for us. Thanks 1badgmc for the information on kdays. My kids and I are happy we got to particpate.

I was in the area of the Kmart today with work, so I dropped in hoping I might find a few more Silverados, but they were all gone. They did still have a few of the Kday Vette, Challenger and Lotus, but those aren't what I was after. |

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
I wasn't really sure what to pick up that day. I really just wanted the silverado and I let her pick out the others. I had two of those cloak and daggers and datsuns in my hand but didn't realize what they were. Apparantly there where not a lot of people at the event after I left because when I returned to the store later that day all the boxes were almost full. Chevelles, montes, challengers...you name it...where everywhere.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
All I was really aiming for were the Silverado, blue '69 Vette and pink Challenger exclusives plus the first-to-market Batmobile, Aston Martin and Monte Carlo SS and then I wanted the purple '67 Chevelle. The rest were just extra cars. Some of them are cool enough that I'll keep in my collection, but a lot I'll let the kids play with probably.
The bright red Datsun wagon was nothing special. If you would have found the deeper red (more of a metallic-like maroon) Datsun, then you would have found the Super Treasure Hunt everyone was after. From what I've read, not a whole lot of those showed up in cases. The Cloak and Dagger is an odd car, but it has a neat little trick up its sleeves. |

I had that one in my hand but I didn't get it at first. By the time I returned it was gone. But that's very cool.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
So I finally got my double of the Modern Classics Silverado in today so I could bust one open. I have to say that even as much as I don't really care for red all that much, this is my favorite of the bunch so far. I love that it has the factory look with the 2-tone paint, emblems on the fenders and even the bowtie in the grille.
And a group shot of all of them I have to date. That's 14 now. Only 4 more to complete the set and I have 1 of those 4 already coming. |

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
It's my favorite too. It was the first square I found that looks similar to my GMC. Now I just have to make it look like the Hot wheel. LOL!

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
I'll be on the lookout for that one. I was able to go to a collecables shop this weekend while vacationing in Myrtle Beach. This guy had an amazing collection of hot wheels on pegs and redlines in glass cases. I was shocked to see that many in one place all for sale. He said he had about 200k packages for sale. I didn't get to see most of them. I actually got tired of looking through them. I did however get some more Bywayman trucks , a couple of tow trucks and some bone shaker models. I'll be going back to that place on my next trip to the beach.

How much did you get it for? I've seen a few of those going for pretty reasonable money lately.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
I got it and a 55 wagon kmart green for less than 40 shipped. I missed out on a lot of 8 the night before of the walmart blue and black hot wheels racing versions. I'm still in the hunt for those.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
Here's one that I did for my dad. It started as a Kmart green Silverado earlier this year. It turned out great after I color sanded it and cleared it. Sadly I didn't get any finished pictures of it due to time issues.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
I also saw a list of 2015 Redline Club cars from HotWheelCollectors.com and noticed that an '83 Silverado 4x4 was listed.
