Dummy Filler Neck/Tank Delete for 67-72 Trucks with Removed In-Cab Tank
10/24/2024 Update - None available at this time. Two people are currently on the waiting list. I will make more when I have five people. Please contact me if you'd like to be added to the waiting list.
I can be reached at dummyfillernecks@gmail.com or send me a PM. *******PRICING******* Standard Unit $120 + $10.40 USPS Flat Rate Shipping Accepted payment methods: Zelle, CashApp or Money Order ******************** Here's a video that shows the filler neck on my truck. This is a blank filler neck that fills the hole left behind in the cab when the stock tank is eliminated, allowing you to retain the original look, and avoids the need to patch and repaint the cab. The parts have been sprayed with two-part epoxy satin black paint. Included in the kit: -Filler neck, shortened, 2-1/4" diameter -Clamping Plate -Cab grommet, 67-70 style (fits 71-72 cabs as well), made in USA -Pan-head screws for clamping plate -Pan-head screws for increased clamping (not usually necessary) Installation instructions can be found here. Note: you will need to provide your own 67-70 non-EEC gas cap, such as Stant 10623 available at O'Reilly for $9. I got my cap from GMCPauls. EDIT - Member D.B successfully used an OE 71-72 grommet with his dummy filler neck. EDIT2 - 71-72 caps do work after all. As an option, the clamping plate is designed to have an AC power outlet connected to it for people who have an inverter in their truck and want a convenient way to plug external items into it. It's designed to work with Journeyman Pro HJP-5279 (not included). In order to install the outlet, a blanking plug must be removed from the clamping plate (drilling required), and the two mounting holes must be tapped to #8-32. Also, the four clamping plate screw holes must have 100° countersinks added so that 100° flat head screws can be used (not provided). Instructions can be found here. Overall, I am pleased with the way these dummy filler necks turned out, and I am picky. Please note though that there are some minor cosmetic flaws such as small lumps from the brazing done on the original filler necks I purchased. Some of the welds inside the filler neck are not as clean as others, but the welds are completely hidden inside and are fully functional. There are a few very minor thin spots in the paint as well as the occasional slight orange peel, but the portion that shows from the outside of the truck is very nice. It isn't possible to get complete paint coverage on the inside of the filler neck due to the shape of the opening. Also, please note that I tested the design on my truck, and it fit quite well. There could be variations from one truck to the next that might influence how snugly the dummy filler neck fits in the grommet. Included are four jacking screws that will allow the fit to be tightened up, if necessary. Last edited by pjmoreland; 10-24-2024 at 11:45 AM. |
