Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

Glad the Burb is mobile again. Sure makes it easier to get to other projects.

Mine is mobile and hasn't gone very far this year...time is flying by.

Brad, don't recall ...what did you do for a pan hard bar?

And it fits really well! I'll snap a picture of it next time I have it up in the air.

Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

FINALLY its back on the road again. Worked last couple of weekends wrapping up the exhaust work. Its done, for now. I want to swap out to an aftermarket cross member for the Trailing arms, that has exhaust openings vs hacking mine. When I do that I will redo the exhaust again to hide it from side view.

But for now, this is what we have.

Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

Looks good, are you going to add in an H- or X-pipe when you redo?

Side note: 15" Indy 500's better hold on to those! Used to be my go-to RWL tire. Now I back to using Cooper Cobra's.

Funny how that happens! Did you go 2.5" or 3"...looks like 2.5" from the pictures?

I bought the biggest UltraFlow I could fit on my '98 K1500. It sounds nice and deep outside, but no more noise than stock in the cab...I didn't realize I would enjoy it so much!

Yes those Indy's probably don't have a ton of time left on them. They had been on my dad's 95, swapped him for mine that had better tread when he went on a trip last year.

Ya the Cobra's are about it, or BFG's

Ya its only 2.5". When I redo it, down the road, I want to run headers and an X pipe.

Thanks Doug! I ordered mufflers tips and a pair of ball flanges. The rest was basically all the pipe I had removed previously. Chop saw, mig, a sharpie and some patience.

Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

Suburban has been serving as tool storage as of late. Had a lightening strike that entered the attached garage and started a small fire above my bench/tools. Everything is fine, and working to fix the garage, but the old burb was pretty much side lined for now.

Its future holds a few different things. It is going to give up the 6.0L and instead get the 5.3 from my C10, as well as the entire front suspension from the 79 ( lowered and all new ) bolted into the 72 Sub. The 79 C10 truck will become a K20.

Just finished flipping through your thread. Truck looks great. What seats did you end up going with in the end?

Thanks, I'm still at the 4 captains chairs. I need to do something and I like what you did, as it would be faster for me to do that vs getting the 3rd row brackets made up... we'll see what I end up with this spring. Its time to get back on it, first cruise in is upon us this weekend!

I sold it off to a friend. It was a fun one.

I've got a new build going in an 83 K20, and I bought a 81 Trans Am
Still have the 79 C10, 72 Sub, and 94K1500 though.

Sounds like fun, I'm looking into building a K2500/K3500 for a "farm pickup," but would totally do a K20/K30 if I found the right one.

I've been daily driving a mint big block Suburban since April, 454 runs too well to LS swap at this point, and only has 97K on the clock (purchased with 88k). Do you have a thread on the K20?

I've been using Flickr...you embed them with the "BB Code"option.

So far so good, but it also has it's limits, 1000 photos without paying the upgraded membership price.

I really like that series of gauges for sure!

Nice update.

I had a red 2011 Suburban with that shade of leather seats, they are good ones!
