Re: Hubcaps

When folks ask about my truck and how difficult it was to find parts for the restoration I often tell them that the hubcaps were the most difficult items to find.

Cool. I'll go back & take a closer look at them. Maybe I can make a deal. I wish all four were there though. That's a great looking truck you have!

I came across three at a locally owned store that sells/produces vintage furniture & such. They have patina & some dents which could probably be pounded out for the most part. Just wasn't sure if they might be worth grabbing.

I was out & about today & stopped back by to look at them. They are the non-clip style that snap over the nubs. I didn't take pics, but they're pretty dinged up. Somebody good with body/metal work could probably massage them out for the most part. With the patina on them, I'm not sure it'd be that big of a deal if they're not perfect. The crappy thing is that there are only 3 of them. The owner told me a lady came in and bought the missing 4th one for her kid's room. They're listed for $20 each, but he came down to $15. That would be $45 total for the three. I'm not sure they're worth that much.

Re: Hubcaps

Did Chevy Gmc make hubcaps for 17" wheels? My 62 k20 has the fingers on the center for hubcaps.

Question Re: Hubcaps

[quote=aerotruk63;5143693]Another thing, a 16" cap for a clip style wheel can be converted to a 15" nub style wheel by removing the inner ring.

Well, since Chevy green hasn't made a post in awhile I imagine this is your thread now 1963c-10 so I am posting a question...I just got some 4-nub steelies...I want to put them on my 65' panel.
Can I get caps that will look like the 65' stock ones that will fit? Did you ever get those caps from that yard you posted a picture of a few pages back? etc.? Thanks for being so informative. jon

Sorry for the delay in answering. I somehow missed it. But yes, the 65 caps will fit the 6 lug 4 bumps just fine.
I went and looked at all the caps he had and they were all car caps or newer model truck caps.

And found another set for my parts hoard.

Re: Hubcaps

This is kind of interesting.
It looks like he used 73-87 4x4 hubcaps with bullets slipped in through the hub caps hub hole.

That is different, & not in a bad way! Can't say I've seen that look before.
