Re: 56 shop truck build

not much progress to report since the last time. All the wiring in the dash is complete, I installed a triple set of gauges and a horn button on the dash. Other than that, my time was taken up by finishing some paint jobs, cleaning the shop and working on my daily driving truck. This week I'm hoping to get a few hours on the truck but need to set aside 2 nights to work on my daughters Camry

Re: 56 shop truck build

We had to make some storag room for all the parts we've collected along with all the other crap that's been sitting on the floor of the shop for the past year. So the wife and I constructed some shelves and a mezzanine last night and treated it to the same black coating as the trim and bench. The poor old Dirtbag is starting to feel closterphobic.

Sorry about the sideways pics, they all seem to do that when I upload from an iPad.

Re: 56 shop truck build

Last night I started fabricating an upper rad mount and fitting the 16" electric fan. I also got the fuel sending unit installed and put the gas tank back in the cab.

Tonight will consist of hanging the hood, installing the grill and hopefully wire in the headlights

Thanks Kim, It's coming together, 1 piece at a time

Re: 56 shop truck build

Last night I got the head light assemblies put together, wired and installed. Then installed a trans hump that I picked up at the local wreckers last week so I could install the B&M shifter. My wife wants to start putting that carpet down so I had to get everything mounted in place

Re: 56 shop truck build

It's been a busy weekend and I have some pictures to share. M amazing wife took it upon herself to carpet the can and then fashion up a nice seat cover out of an old Mexican blanket that's been kicking around or about a decade. I was busy working on welding up som tubs and making up the upper rad support piece. Today we'll finish up the wiring under the hood and glue in the headliner. For some reason I can only upload 1 pic at a time from this IPad so bear with me

Re: 56 shop truck build

Here's a shot of the entire truck. I swapped the front tires out to give me extra tire clearance when turning and in turn, it lowered the front and a bit more. Now it has just the right amount of rake. You can see the tuck and roll headliner that the wife made up, hanging on the bed side. She's done some amazing work on this truck and I'm thankful every day to have her

Re: 56 shop truck build

Chevette, a fellow board member sent me this rad. He used to run it in his 57 so I'm not sure what its actually from. I just made it work or my application. My wife picked that blanket from my folks last night and worked er magic. An hour later she had this cool cover made up and installed

Re: 56 shop truck build

we hauled ass on it this weekend and got the engine all wired up, everything with the exception of a tach is wired up in the cab. This week we'll focus on getting the rad hoses, heater hoses, fuel line, tranny cooler lines all hooked up and then bleed the brake system. I also have to weld on my tubs which I'll start on tonight. I'm setting a goal to fire it this coming weekend.
Thanks for the encouragement guys
