Not sure if this is even a Chevy, but it still may give you some inspiration for your truck:

Re: Something different thread

It's funny how it all works. We dont want to drive our newly painted hotrod because it might get a rock chip. BUT, we drive our brand new vehicle everywhere and dont think twice, lol.
Paint jobs cost too much these days, gonna do my own and drive it, hope for the best.

I agree, my 51 is so nice I'm afraid to drive it.

That's part of the reason I decided to paint my 64 Suburban myself. I just started last weekend. It was over $600 for 2 gallons of paint. So I can't imagine what it would cost now to pay someone else to do a paint job.

Local guy has a 53 GMC he has his heart set on restoring and would have to farm out all the labor. Keeps asking me about mine. Not sure what to say as I might upset him. know this guy, late 60's and fixed income under 50K. My opinion is he sadly cannot afford it.

I don't get you guys with trailer queens...

TRUK's shakedown cruise was Detroit to Orlando to pick up my co pilot for hotrod power tour 2011. TRUK has been on 3 power tours, rock chips and all. You spend lots more on dd every ten years and think nothing about driving it in rush hour traffic or cross country

Not driving your new hotrod is like not having sex with your new hot wife, saving her for the next husband. Lucky for you that your truck can't leave you, nor file for divorce

Re: Something different thread

Theres a video out there where folks hang foam pool noodles on the sides of their cars in parking lots!! FWIW I hear automotive paint has skyrocketed along with all other kinds of paint.

Re: Something different thread

Wasn't kidding about the tinted hippo (rhino) liner on mine. Had the fender skirts, running boards and bumpers done in black on the 54 and its like bulletproof.

On same note anyone noticing they are designing parking lots now with a direction toward maximizing capacity and reducing space for each vehicle? Seen some injure themselves and adjacent vehicles trying to squeeze out and get past the mirrors. Also seen those in beater who slam doors into nice paint jobs on purpose for fun/envy issues.

Re: Something different thread

Last summer had a person slam his door into the right door of my truck. I got and looked at the scratch in the door. I asked him to be a little more careful as I had a lot of work in the truck He said" What the F*** - Its just an old truck" Almost decked him.....

Use that cell camera and take pics of door and the guy and his plate. May not get a dime but might worry the heck out of him and maybe prevent a repeat.
