Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Very nice stuff. When I did a lot of this kind of thing, you could get eibach springs for our trucks, and those and the Doetsch shocks always was a fantastic combo. Great job!

Also sent Doetsch a email today I noticed they have a mono 2.0 shock. So I asked them if they make the equivalent to the slammers I have and well guess what they sure do. So I am thinking real hard about getting them and testing them out. $66 each they said. Not bad at all. |

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Well my shackles finally showed up today. Thanks for messing up the delivery day Fedex. O well I got them. Happy the support beam under the bed that runs from fender to fender is notched out already. These will tuck right up in.
I will see if I can get these installed tomorrow along with flip kit. But depends on how long the alignment takes. |

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Well that have been slacking the last couple of days. I have not done anything to the truck. But I did take it to the alignment shop today. Really nice people and they do it the old school way. Going from a 5" drop to a 6" drop and changing tie rod sleeves the only thing out was the toe 2 degrees out on both sides caster and camber was dead on.
I take that back I did put some new shorter bump stops on the control arms give me a little more travel. But I have to get the new rear flip and new shackles on tomorrow for sure I got a cars and coffee event Sunday morning. |

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
I accomplished a few things today! Went to work. Put a wheel hub in the mother in laws Equinox. And finally got the CPP flip kit CPP extended shackle and the Doetsch shocks installed. O and the little button bump stops. Put a new power steering belt on and shimmed up the body on passenger side cab. Cause it was rubbing inner fender and big dips. Pics coming.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Pic2 What I do like about the CPP flip kit is the base plate on the bottom of the leaf the holes are slotted and gives you a little play room to get everything lined up good.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
The back sits exactly 1/16" higher than the front. And that is measuring the correct way from center of wheel up to fender. I can't stand the back being lower than the front. These are not the best pics. I took it for a test drive to verify everything was good to go and needed gas. That motor is thirsty lmao!

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
This is the same setup i went with on mine about a year ago except i used richmond gear ring and pinion, unfortunately I only got to drive it for two days due to a slew of transmission and fuel problems and its been parked ever since. Had I known Id be doing the LS swap with a 4L80e, I would have went with 4.11s instead.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Loving everything about this truck. I contacted Robert shortly after he bought this truck asking if he wanted to sell and he didn't at the time. You got one hell of a truck there my friend, congrats again!

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Thanks BM! I'm glad I got it. It took me a few months to convince him to let it go. I am proud of it and feel I am doing it justice. It sure is a eye catcher when I take it out. Even people who don't like Chevy's like it. I got more stuff to do on it but that is the fun part. More to come!

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Well I had to order something for the truck today. Lol. I ordered the Porter front shock relocator. I hadn't planned on ordering it but I said might as well. Got it from Travis over at Pro Performamce. Nice guy answered my questions in PMs. Well that means more new shocks God help me I have used more shocks than I ever would on anything else. I did not want a twin shock I wanted a mono shock. I have been talking with Doetsch about w mono shock. But I would have to have them custom made and wait 2 weeks and they would cost over $100. So I got the shock numbers from Travis that they use with the Poerter kits. Called KYB and got the correct numbers for the mono tube KYB shocks for the front and rear. My stuff has to match lol. Just wish the Porter stuff was coated. O well I will fix that with rattle powder lol. When I get the stuff I will post up picks. Hopefully I will like the KYB mono shocks for the front and rear. I am going to have to go to some shows to unload some of this suspension stuff I have stocking up in the garage.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Well the KYB mono shocks I ordered are not in stock. That really ticks me off. I hate when a dealer says they have something In stock but they don't o well. So I will be getting the twin tube KYB shocks for now. Cause they couldn't get anything else but I did some research and found some Bilsteins that will work. Plus I got the KYB twin shocks a heck of a lot cheaper than what the vendors on here have them for!! Just going to get everything installed and then get those down the road. Everything should be here by Thursday!
Trying to decide between the March v belt conversion kit or the billet specialties v belt conversion kit. I have one already sitting in garage but idk if I like it. Last edited by RodsGreen10; 07-17-2015 at 07:57 PM. |

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Surprise 2. I don't know how these will do. These are what work for the truck by comp and ext. for the front and rear. The application is actually for a Toyota truck 4Runner and a land cruiser. Same shocks that come in the porter kits. So we shall see.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Got rear done today. Tackle the Porter from relocators this weekend. I don't know if I am going to like these or not. They sure are small compared to Belltech shocks. May just go back with bell. I did find the matching front shocks for Belltech that will work with the Porter kit so who knows I may have Belltech all around again. I know I am tired of changing shocks every weekend lol.
